Quad & Bedford QL portee. Quad is done.

I started putting the ammo carriage together today. What fine exacting work. Looks really nice though. Also it is pretty well engineered. I think you'll like it Mats. You got me inspired so looked at my cmp and found it was maybe 25% done. So will follow your lead.
James

Glad to hear that i inspired someone to start with a kit :D
Busy now with the figures, after that i will bite into the gun! really looking forward to it!
Any pictures of your start James?
//Mats

No, not yet. I started on the ammo carriage. I found it difficult gluing the top on with the sides on. Not impossible but difficult. I am building mine all closed up. The towing pintle is very fiddly and if your gun will be in trail you might want to leave the top bar till last. I glued mine and am now regretting the decision. Everything is so tiny and fragile. Might get some pics tonight. Looks nice though.
James

thanks for the tip! not sure yet if it will be in trail or preparing to give the germans a beating :)

Hello Mats, I'm a little bit late to this party but I'm really impressed (y) (y) (y)

This is a great build thread, lots of clear pictures and fine modelling skills!!!

Thanks Randy, i'm glad you like it! :D
Some more paint on the guys tonight, but on the pics they look like crap... :pinch:
But after the skin and other details i think it will be ok :S

:soldier well finally back to my brittish dessert rats :dance
Did the basic skintone and will continue with shadows and highlights, i do these at the same time as i do the russian guy for the fall figure campaign.
One thing i must learn is to paint the eyes... :hmmm must be an easy way of doing it (in acrylics)
oh well here is one pic of the tommies :)

Isn't it great! as soon as i started with this again i run into problems :vmad :bang head
I tried the wheels on and in the back the axle is to narrow! i checked instructions and i made it correct :hmmm
So now i broke off both ends and i'm now busy looking for something to extend the axle with, 2-3mm on each side.
Hope for the kits best i manage to fix it until new year otherwise it will get airborne with one of the rockets!!
Here is how it looked

Too bad that happened,Mats!

Here is a suggestion;drill out the axle,and use a wire in the centre.
Then use EVERGREEN rods ohttp://www.google.com/search?q=evergreen+plastic+tubing&hl=en&rlz=1D2ACPW_nlNL360NL360&prmd=imvns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=3yDSTuDAEsmgOpvIyJMP&ved=0CE8QrQQr tubing to recreate the broken of piece over the wire.

Greetings,Ron.

thanks for the tip Ron :) busy trying to find a wire thats not to soft, the styren tubes i have.
I go out in the garage maybe i have a nail or something that could work... or a hammer!!
//Mats

Hammer works, ask me how I know...
Could try a brass tube, it'll be rigid enough to support and you could sand down either side of the axle and push it over like a sleeve.

Ok managed to find some nails 2mm diameter and then drilled out the hubs and the axel.
Superglued the nails inside the axel, and here is it now, a wider rear axel that looks much better! :D
I also had to adjust the axel on the springs because i had glued it a little out of sync with the chassi, just had to move one side forward 1mm.

Time to start painting this one, hope that goes better than the build itself! :laugh:

Bob, I hope it's not your mustang that got the Hammer treatment!
Thats also a good way to do it with the tube hmm must remember that next time :)

:silly: :silly: :D

primer is applied, and a pintje after that heavy music! :D Ron i'm to old for that fast bompa bompa :)
Next a spray of green and then the sand colour.
//Mats

Here we go the green is on, not so important how well it's covering on the upper side it's going to be painted over with sand yellow, the underside will get a dust of yellow to but not everywhere.
