PZ IV gun mantlet

The Zod

I am thinking of getting the Trumpeter VK 3001. I would like to change the short 75mm to either an L/43,or L/48,like what was on the F2-J. Would I have to change out the sleeve where the short 75 comes out? Or did the Germans use the same sleeve for the short and longer barrels?
They look the same to me,but I could be wrong.

I dont know, but looking through some books, the L43 and L48 mantles looked beefier.

They are not alike at all. The short long gun mantlets were different but the mantlet from the VK3001 is not like either on the PzKpfw IV. I sent my hull to a friend and plan to use the turret as a pillbox.

Panzertracts book on turret pillboxes shows this version was active and is covered in scale plans well enough to know the differences.

Yet, being a what if, just do it! Have fun. Remove the kit mantlet from the rotor and use a mantlet plus gun from another kit.

Regards,
