Ok listen up, pay attention the back.
Your scribe has an admission to make. He glued on 2 major parts back to front and hence his ongoing battle with this kit. The 2 side frames for the fuselage are in 2 pieces, each has a large hole and a small which appeared to be reversed so the right front could only fit the right rear…….you can see where this is going . It is possible if you are particularly stupid to get the left front on the right rear especially if stupidity is a know specialty of your scribe. Although they appear identical the front sections are handed but only where the engine cradle attaches. The result is recesses for the cradle are on the outside of the frame instead of the inside pushing the frame sides away at a point where they should be converging at the pointy end of the aircraft.
Our DH9 emerged from surgery this afternoon looking a lot better having amputated both front sections and swapped them over , not straight forward as I had used solvent glue and they just didn’t want to come apart so I had to cut them and splice them back together
here you can see the wood effect is now on the outside of the front of the frame
and again here and you can see the join above
The upshot is it all fits together rather well now and the repairs will never be seen again
And the true test is............ the propeller shaft now exits in the middle of the hole in the cowling. before this it was right over to one side and sticking out at an angle
I would pat myself on the back but its really difficult at my age ,but lessons have been learned which i will forget by the next build and now i will collapse from heat exhaustion as the Temps here spiral ever up . Its currently 34C about 94f its been this way for weeks, probably months. I cant remember when it last rained. Normal for a lot of people but here in Blighty we are used to the rain, some of us even have webbed feet but they tend to be Scottish so a bit strange all round.. Reservoirs are drying up, hose pipes are banned, wild fires are springing ....up we are all doomed but hopefully i will finish this before i melt into a puddle of lard.
