Paddy, the safety wiring on the end would go through the end nut and have a small twisted tail to finish it. It would not clip off flush on the side of the nut. Usually the tail would be folded over and around the nut. It would possibly be long enough to wrap halfway around and the end would loop around the other side to hold it.

Hi Paul
yes there are several ways of doing it. What i used to do was thread the wire through each bolt then bring both ends back to the middle and twist them there, not super tidy but my lock wire pliers were quite large and didnt work in small spaces, i guess they were not really for motorcycles, more like Saturn V's :) The run on most of these bolts is at least half a dozen so not as many ends but i would have wired them in pairs myself.
some idea of the scale here, TBH most without magnification wouldn't see the wire, its actually just 3 thou" thick

I have staggered the ones on the chassis top

but this doesnt look right, Maybe i should use a single strand of wire, maybe black ?

This Bugatti has silver single strand and looks much more in keeping

This needs a re think

The twist in the safety wire was to add strength. I think the single strand in that one car was just to show it there. Doesn't have practical use. Hard to see in those photos Paddy but if that fishing line is a thread and not mono it might work for ya.

Thanks for your input Bob, i am going with the copper wire because i have to keep reminding myself this is supposed to be a modern restoration with bling, not much else is going to be authentic ..lol
I always do weathered and realistic :) this is my renaissance :)

I have to keep reminding myself this is supposed to be a modern restoration as i keep wanting to weather it like i would usually do.

I did allow myself to weather the seat as new leather really does look like painted plastic :)

The body has some sort of fixings across the back where it joins the tail but they sort of fade away half way round :) so i will remove the lot and start again.

always a big leap forward when you get some paint on things

above with Tamiys Italian Red TS8 rattle can
and below with Tamiya clear gloss rattle can

Notice now all the holes in these 3 body panels are drilled for the lock wire bolts,,, over 50 of them :)

Decals are an inch thick but will look more flush when it all goes hard and i can cut this back and polish in a few days time.

I have tried to create a mottled finish, not sure its worked TBH but once under cover in the body i think it will look right

I remember on my first attempt at this car i had trouble with the wind screens. They are quite fragile PE glued to the clear screen with the frame built in. I remember Bod pulled me up on the fixings to the body not sitting right :)

the problem is....the PE is folded at such an angle you cant get bolts through the holes to fix to the body. Italeri probably forgot about the screehs originally as their is no holes or even markings on the body to show where they should go and because you cant fix these to the body till its been painted, if you glue them you will be glueing them to a clear coat surface. These would have been red but i am thinking chrome :)

Not much to report, its all going to plan :)
I'm getting a bit carried away with body work and the rest of the build is not really at this stage.

Lock wiring pretty much complete now

Really difficult to position and fix the screens so they are level, square, and angled the same because as i mentioned, there are no marks on the body to show where they should go. You just have to plan it out and mark yourself which is not easy because the pe is not rigid and can also be folded how you like.
