Looking really good Paddy! What is it that you are using to hold it? Kind of looks like a movement holder for a watch.

Sometimes a sharpened tooth pick can make the tiny stuff easier.

Its just a mini clamp i bought for just these kinds of jobs. I dont have the feeling in the tips of my fingers i had 5 years ago.

Thanks for the link. As it is a UK link I did a search on US Amazon and came up with something similar, but has other pluses so ordered it and a mini fractal vice. They should be here Wednesday. Am always needing stuff to hold things for machining and such.
 
I found a load more wood that needs painting so thats another week of drying so i am playing with the engine . The thing that draws me to cars and bikes now is the scale as its easier to detail things in 1/12 or larger
I am giving ago with some of the bis on this like the ignition wire tubes as if it doesnt work its out of sight but ts fun trying,

the ignition tube looks bigger but its not, its 1mm..... it hasn't had a mat coat yet but the engine has so it will blend in better once thats done..

Maybe its just something I have missed in the past but I was surprised to see the propeller on the DH9 on “back to front” so much so that I had to check some original pictures 😊 I would normally expect the straight edge of a prop to be the leading edge .

That is where reference photos come so much in handy. That is also why my sFH 18 has taken such a detour, but I am on the home stretch now on it.
 
Paddy the only thing I would worry about here is if you have any of your rigging hardware on the outside of the frame. Tolerance can be unforgiving on these kits.

It looks great, yeah we spend a lot of time inside that doesn't get seen.
 
You are very right Bob,
One of the problems with flitting from car to bikes metal to plastic and so on is you forget what you learned and tolerances are really tight. So much so that while i got both sides of the fuselage fitted but one engine bearer is sticking out about 1mm further out than the other so the nose cone wont fit. Also the whole thing is like a banana :) I am not sure its savable, depends if the glue will unstick enough to get it apart.

It's out of square some where?
Looks like from here the engine bearing section of the frame is a separate assembly than the cockpit area. Maybe separate them and fit the engine and frame assembly to the closed up fuselage? I haven't seen the instructions on this so I'm just making it up. Or maybe have it free floating till you close up.
 
Well it comes apart ok As my super glue is not very Super and even the glue bit is questionable :)

Next time i build WnW i wouldn't use oils again, they are too thick, they bung up holes, never really dry and make parts very difficult to stick using super glue or normal plastic cement.
There are a lot pins and holes and when you put the fuselage against the frame you obviously have to get them lined up. Problem for me was you cant see the holes or pins as they are lost in the oil paints :) There are also several slots and rectangle pegs which dont really fit together even before you add oils so i had to open all the slots up a bit

all these problems are a bit de-ja-vu as i come across them as i found the same before but have forgotten over the years. I looked back at my
WnW Brisfit build which is one of the few models i actually kept and it was 2010 so i am happy its just memory failure and not senility 🤣
