Oshkosh by gosh

We had a CO that had a pet project to get a unique colour flight suit for Test Pilots and Flight Test Engineers. Needless to say, his grownups did not share his enthusiasm for the idea. At one point the squadron aircrew procured a pink flight suit complete with name tags, badges and rank insignia and presented it to him. Most of the time it hung in his office but he did wear it for special occasions.

Cheers,

Colonel Ford was a bitter man. Korea, Vietnam and never flew a combat mission... strictly a bus driver. He stopped me one day because I was wearing an AFCM but nothing else. He couldn't believe an airman would have the Commendation Medal and not a good conduct medal (3 years of service). I did 5 years, 11 months and 14 days on my first enlistment... no cluster on the Good boy medal.

I was at RAF Mildenhall in the mid to late 1070's and remember the Reserves from Texas
flying in with a Connie for the airshow. The 513th TAW CO got pissed because they all wore orange flight suits with cowboy boots and hats.

The USAF still had some Orange flight suits in the late 60's to 1970 . Coming from Texas, the boots and hats ar not hard to believe . I remember seeing an EC-121 at MacDill in 1976 . Must have been Navy since it was blue .

The German seaplane BV-138 had I believe 3 diesel engines.

It was also the last kit produced by HPH in 1/32 scale. I would have probably jumped on it but the $500+ price tag stopped me at the time I saw it.

So sad that HPH went under. Hopefully someone will be selling off any left over kits they might have had.
