Inside hatch was the exterior color if I'm not mistaken. We'll find out shortly I know.

things have to get worse first to get better, a light blast of an under coat for chipping and flaking of what i guess the original drab would have been before they were painted in the field lo a slate/sand finish.. I think i need to get the basic sand on before adding tow cables , tools and fine detail just not sure how much of the green to have showing through at the moment. Too much is going to look like a very poorly applied std camo of sand and green rather than sand with bits of green showing through

I'm not sure if this is finished or not but its as far as i am going for now till i get the transporter done.
I have compromised a little with th fit of some parts that are removable like the roof of the inerior as it would glue nicely in place but doesnt want to just sit in place to well, same with the engine cover, rear deck.
I have not gone overboard with weathering as i dont want to run before i can walk and i have huge amount to learn with regards technique, Ammo/Mig supply the tools, i just have to learn how to use them
One small mistake.............. i think i might have fuel spill from the water tank,

I have decided to re think the plan with the Grant. I am not happy with it so little point in keeping it so i will break it for spares, tracks will be useful etc. That leaves me with a transporter with nothing to transport .I think i will go green rather than desert. I think this will give me a better opportunity to practice weathering and a wider range of things to transport. The Scammell was used up to the mid 1950's. in BFG ( British forces Germany) but i will probably go late war. Funny thing was as i took the pictures above, "A bridge too Far" was on the TV. The Sherman's on that had the hatches open and they were exterior colour inside...and I had to laugh at the coincidence that this Grant was a "bridge to far" for me
Bottom line is it was good practice in a Subject of modelling i know little about. I need to spend a lot more time on joints, filling and detail, Interiors need to be very good or little point in leaving the shell open as i did as when balanced together it just looks badly made..
Th kit itself is much better than i could do it justice but it does need a lot more experience than i have at the moment in particular as i pointed out in the build, you must get alignment right with the basics, The Hull is 8-9 pieces if they are not spot on the rest of the build get progressively. Not A problem you have so much with a one piece hull from Tamiya for example. Maybe i need to do something like a Car or Aircraft to rebuild my confidence and come back to the transporter later in the year ?

It still turned out quite nice!
Paddy, sometimes it takes building one of these part monsters to get us thinking outside the box. In some cases the instructions are mostly there to show us "where" the parts go. We have to decide for ourselves the order and process to build it.
My Ho-229 build with the uber complex part frame is an excellent example. The instructions showed one way for that complex frame to be assembled. In studying it and thinking about it, I could see all kinds of FUBAR that could happen if I did it the way they said in the instructions. I completely changed the order and process to assemble that beast. In the end, since I did it the way I preplanned it, everything fit beautifully. I used the top frame to align and hold everything step by step while using CA to attach all the parts one at a time to the bottom frame. There was also an order to the parts so as to force everything to line up. At the end of the assembly the top frame had to line up with something like 20 to 30 points when it was put in place. Since I used it to line everything up while assembling the frame, it just fit right down.
When you build another tank or kit that has a complex assembly, you will think way ahead on the build and it should go much better.

Not the scrap yard already?! Well I think you did a fine job on this and I followed closely because this is the base for my Lullubelle that'll be on my short list once the shop is operational.
I only see one construction issue popping up but your chipping and weathering are spot on!

Seriously though i think most people do practise runs, i just do them in public, i think it helps others to see the good and bad but in an ideal world i suppose it would be better to practice in private and post on line the victory's. I used to have about a 50% success rate , its now probably nearer 75% but maybe i will let others be the judge of that ...lol

Ah but you are like me, not scared to go public win or lose. There are a lot of websites where people would do anything to preserve their reputation of being a genius. Just look at modelling madness and Britmodeller....Thats one of the things that makes this site so good. we are all pretty grounded.
