On to the painting!
I decided to go with the never-before-seen night fighter scheme:
Just kidding. It's Mr Surfacer 1500 Black Primer. I heard good things about it, so I wanted to try it out. We'll see how well it worksThe nice thing is with a black base, it should be easier to modulate the paint so that it looks a bit more realistic rather than one solid color.
RLM 76 applied:
The black base seems to have some promise, but I'll have to get some more experience with it to really optimize the effect. I painted the "fuselage" in RLM 76 as I am not sure yet which scheme I will do, one that is mottled on the fuselage top, or one that is solid on the fuselage top.

Doug, when did Black Mr. Surfacer come out? I ask years ago if it came in different colors for this very reason and just got strange looks...![]()
