M3 Lee Lulubelle

if you are using stock brass tube then Rhino is spot on as most sizes have a corresponding internal dia size.
In the UK we use Albion alloys tube and they do sets that fit in each other like a telescopic radio aerial
YEAH!!

I poked around a bit

I have more problem with the outer side than inner.

Just a bit wonky.

I didn't drill out the other bogies so I can press forward but...I do want to build an airplane. :plane

Famous last words right?

Well through the covid haze I screwed up. On the Carolina Lee I pinned the swing arms of the road wheels with brass tubes because the attachment point was really weak. My piss poor note keeping told me it as .5 mm tube, it was not, way too small. I thought I just dropped the 1.5 so I drilled out axels and all with 1.5. It's too big and I've hosed up the bogie assemblies. Yeah like when I screw up I screw them all up to be consistant.

As such, I'll table this build, order the Sahara Lee that has fresh bogies and grouser boxes as well as figures (which I already have) and use those parts.
till then...SE.5 or Tripe? :pilot
I actually think the British Tripe is cooler looking than the Hun's 🫢

When we last left our dusty heros we were without suspension. The mission is, drill out the pivot point rod to except 1.5 mm pipe to extend the attachment point into the boogie assembly. Also the inner hub of the road wheels are of various thicknesses (or are the axels various lengths?) that needs to be fixed. And why are these issues not discussed on other builds? I mean this is a popular kit and well documented.

Think I need to get a better caliper than what I have to do some measurements.

Thanks James, I'll keep that in mind if I need it. Might be cheaper to by another Miniart though.. :rotf
I know I run the risk of suffering the wrath of @Heavens Eagle Paul for the condition of the lathe, needs a good overhaul. But I finally got a legitimate use out of the Unimat lathe!

I'm not dead on center but my hole is spot on straight through. That was one issue I had on the other assemblies earlier this year, they were wonky. 10 more times on this and we'll be building boogies. :soldier

Hey it's your lathe, do what you want with it. I just did some prep work on the 75mm Pak 40 shells to get them a bit smoother with my lathe. Have not decided how I am going to lock the shells to spin them and turn them as I am going to do it between centers. (I will let you figure out what I mean by that  )
