Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

That's only one. :soldieron
Indeed, I need to find the others. I hope not left at work. One was fresh Evergreen styrene sheet assortment from Hobby Lobby to try on my Cricut Maker. My current stock of sheet styrene is a bit dried out and brittle, perfect for other uses but not plotter cutting.

It's been a slim Christmas for me this year in terms of gifts and money so I didn't get much. I still managed to pick some models and supplies up with Christmas money. Before that, here's some things I got from others:

One of my friends gave me this craft box. Not sure yet what I'm going to do with it, but it looks to be quite useful:

Then there's this. Hang on to your hats guys; my wife actually bought me this for Christmas! She needed something else to get free shipping for an order she was making and asked me if I wanted anything. I jokingly told her "How about buy me a model?" She then handed me her phone and said, "Pick one"! This is what I picked:

The day after Christmas was Brookhurst Hobbies Day After Christmas sale, so I went in and got these:

First is paints and some glue I was running low on. The paints I got because someone told me Revell metallics are the best out there. I do love the Vallejo metallics and think they're the best, but I did want to try these out:

The paint brushes I already had, they just happened to be sitting there when I set up this pic.

The models I got at Brookhurst are:

This Luftwaffe Glider. Finally someone released one of these in my scale:

Then I got this for my Israeli Air Force:

Finally, while this was not on sale; it was deeply discounted since it came from a collection of pre-owned models that had been sold to Brookhurst by a model widow. I've always anted one but didn't like the idea of paying so much so I got this for a great deal:

Yes, I do hope to get that built this year.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll get some birthday money in a couple months to get more. Like I mentioned, not a lot but the experiences I had this past month made this the best Christmas ever!

Just got a box with all my A-26B updates. I only opened one, the control column and OMG but is it nice. Will let everything come up to room temp before doing any more as it was in the mail box at -16C and I dont want anything to crack. Pictures from their web site https://www.resin2detail.com

The only thing left to get are the proper engines. I have asked if they will be making a 6 gun nose or could do a commission stl file. See what happens. I'm excited to get into this as the A-26 was one of my favourite a/c. I guess markings are going to be up to me to try and make.

It is too bad there are too few choices lol. I am kind of drawn to the black one beside the A-26C Invaders. I am guessing its in the Pacific. I'm a bit confused though because it has the 6 gun nose but seems to have the late clam shell canopy. I have to look at the kit to see which one it has. I want to do a WWII aircraft and except for a few very late war Pacific theater aircraft they are all natural metal. I think only 2 Sqns painted their birds black and it was late 45 or 46 if I remember correctly. I have some aluminum paints in various shades coming but I dont mind changing to a black bird if I can find more info. Its a shame the kit is mish mash of variants spanning 3 wars. I only got one control column because the WWII birds only had 1 control column in them.
Thanks for those pics Saul.

It is French in use in Indo-China.

I think that cockpit set is more appropriate to a B-26K than a WW II A-26B or C, having just built an Italeri B-26K and spent a bunch of time modifying it to the Viet Nam/On Mark configuration.

True. The picture is misleading of the cockpit and is just to show their control columns. I only bought one control column and man is it nice. I also got a correct IP panel by Eduard. Instead of the second seat on the right I got a jump seat. The kit is terrible as it is a mix of all variants. All I need now is to get a new 6 gun nose and the proper engines because the engines in the kit were never on any version of this aircraft. Emailed Brian at R2D and he never even considered a six gun nose but will work on one now. It would be nice if I could just buy the stl from him, but I dont think that is going to happen.

a couple new floaters (not my usual scale but good deals)

And then a couple used kits from my meetings.

The AMT Cobra, had this kit as a kid and never finished it. Body was painted but I was able to remove the paint with Super Clean degreaser.

And this F-16B. The canopy was missing so it was very cheap. Thought I would see if I could get one from Hasegawa

Until I saw the Cobra I thought you'd been in my stash, Warren.. Well, the O-1 I have is short the floats, but yeah...all the others I better go check!

That MPM two-seater does match up well, not perfect, to Hasegawa Fw 190's wings, so it is something to consider.

If Hasegawa won't replace the F-16B canopy, Rob Taurus offers an excellent one for this kit as set 72026.
