My kingdom for a good Nieuport or Spad...are they almost out if Albatross variants? ;)

I picked that up before going to Nebraska. Also got a Roden D.I and the Encore D.II (which is the Roden kit with extra goodies)

Have not cleaned off my photo table in order to take kit pictures in a while.

It is tempting to pick up another one of those kits isn't it James?

Backroom board meeting. Company president says they'll put out a kit of every single marking variation.

Remember the old Monogram or Revell aircraft carriers that were identical except for the markings? Ditto for the Missouri Iowa and other battleships.

Seems that a lot of companires will box up a kit with new markings and then offer it for sale.

Cheers

The Albatros set is a fantastic price as you get 3 models for the price of 2. It also has 11 markings so you can do a Jasta 5 vignette or collection. As for too many?, well the 3 original versions are all sold out and have been for a while. People are selling them for anywhere up to %400 US (the highest price I saw). So this is like a repop but with 3 kits that make either a D.V or D.Va. Nothing like other manufacturers popping out old molds with new decals. Once these are gone I doubt it will reappear for many years if ever.

3 kits huh? I might be able to pull off one complete build. :bang head :bang head :rotf :rotf

Do it, you know you wanna. Whats really cool is you can build either a d.v or d.va.
Need some more and also some Fokker D.VIIs with conversion parts.

I kind of want that Raiden. Have the rest and really should build them. Kind of getting sick of modern stuff. Think I need to take a me break maybe.
Nice haul by the way. Look forward to the builds, especially the Raiden.

eBay purchase, very cheap beading set for making rivet marks (not holes) on plastic. You get what you pay for as the handle went straight to the garbage bin!

Beader001.jpg

The tope of the storage case was cracked and badly scuffed.

Beader002.jpg

The collet is stuck in there and the collar is not a screw on but pressed on. Pure crap.

Beader003.jpg

However, all the tools have nicely indented tips in 23 sizes, so I am happy once I use my own handle (either a pin vise or the beading tool MDC sold me as a riveter).

Why buy it? You can use a pin vise to hold the tools and steel is still harder than plastic so the job is done. If I were a jeweler working with metal, it may have been another disappointment.

Looks like you got a decent set there Saul. I am not sure what you were explaining about the handle. Yeah the outer beauty ring was loose but all it is supposed to do is hold the bead tool so it can be pushed. Friction fit. I have a set of these from back in watch school that had not been used in years and then ChukW showed a new use.

Pushing into plastic they should never wear out. (y) :woohoo:

The collet is so tight, I can't push in the beaders for that friction fit. Easier to use the pin vise but it actually fits the beading handle from the MDC set.
