Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Quite happy today. My parts arrived for my Pfalz D.XII so I can continue on with it. Also some extras for a couple of other WNW kits I want to start soon.
I also got the newest Mr, Black book on figure painting. These are a very cool series and the painters give colour call outs if you want to follow along. And finally after an almost 2 year wait I got the new Aviattic Ansaldo A.1 Ballillas. I will do a review in a little while.

James are we going to get a closer look in side those Aviattic boxes?

Yes we will. Just between work flu and my Linux administrators course I haven't had time for anything. Book this weekend I hope and kits by next weekend.

I've been keeping an eye open for the SimilR Ford GT GT1 kit for reasonable money for a couple years now. Unfortunately they didn't produce a large quantity of them, so any that were for sale second hand were in the $100-150 range (+shipping). I happened to stumble across one the other day though...evidently they reissued the 2010 Lemans kit with some changes and additional PE for less than what I had seen the second-hand kits going for. So I now have one inbound from Spain. :woohoo:

Nice scores fellers ... Looking forward to some interesting builds coming up ...

In getting ready for the train show this weekend I ran across a score of last October ... Don't tell my wife
A On30 two truck Shay .... :train

I will finish taking this apart ... On30 log skidder I'll need the vertical boiler off of it ... The cable reels/hoist could go up front to do extra logging work ...

And I'm going to try to make something like this ...

Ahhhh, the Shay is probably my favorite piece of machinery ever built and you have torn yours apart :frantic .

On the other hand, that looks like a very interesting machine that you are planning :woohoo:

Thànks for your concern, it's OK Christian, it's my favorite locos also ... In narrow gauge the engine wasn't pretty ... Just functional ... Hang in there guess if there's enough interest I could start a thread. Don't be alarmed if it turns out to be a Satterwhite Lumber Co. Shay working the piney woods of East Texas ...

$25 plus shipping and I was happy...

Then I find this Spitfire Mk Vb at $35, with free shipping, Airfix Bf 109E (can be built as E-1/E-3/E-4/E-7 using parts marked not for use), ten tiny tins of Airfix acrylic paint, #0 & #4 brushes, plus two tubes of poly cement, tossed in.

Had me like a giddy boy smiling from ear to ear.

Wasn't paying attention on a late night Squadron deal and thought I was getting another Meng kit but this showed up instead...

Guess I need to keep my buying to the daylight hours ;). I'll have to be on the lookout for a sale on the tank itself now ;)

Well when you get the tank you have the makings of a nice little diorama (y)

Picked up a couple of things over the last couple of weeks.

Downloaded some Utube videos on the V2. That should end up rather interesting. The trailer is quite detailed. It can be built with either the rocket laying down or set up on the pad and the trailer then works as a gantry.

Ah a Yak-3. I just watched and downloaded a Russian television series "The Attackers" and "The Attackers. The Last Fight" that feature Yak-3 aircraft as the main plabe in the series. It's about WW2 female Russian pilots and is oosely (very loosely it seems) based on Lydia Litvyak in combat.

Read a bit abiut the Yak-3 without the antenna mast and discoveredthat some liked it better than either the P-51 Mustang or the Supermarine Spitfire.

Here's a link to the first episode of "the Attackers" in case you're interested in watching it. There are English subtitles.

I had to ask John Osselaer of Paper Panzer Productions about this as he knows I do not build much what if and concept vehicles unless actually used.

It turns out that the boxed items are his (rather generous) donation to the Call to Arms 3, to Fight Cancer, fundraiser. Fortunately, I asked before writing reviews as this would have necessitated some assembly. I will provide in box views but not reviews.

Thanks for the link Peter! It is always interesting and can be enlightening to watch programs from other countries. I watched part of episode 1 while waiting to get my hair cut. Will download all four episodes and then the Night Swallows episode (further down the list) One person posted below that the actual name should have translated The Fighters, which makes more sense.
The effects and sets were decent enough. Well worth the watch.
