Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Guess we need pics to be truthful ;)

Got on a Sabre kick after watching Showdown: Air Combat on Netflix...the first episode dealt with the Sabre versus Mig 15 and peaked my interest. I was hoping to order the kit with the 67th FS decals but didn't look closely enough on eBay when I bid...so I got this one...still looks like a great kit-- but the 67th has a bit of nostalgia for me as I flew in a virtual 67th squadron while flying flight sims back before I had kids ;)

There are two Tamiya kits of the Zero, only one of which is the fabulous one... which kit number is this? If under $10USD it is worth buying and paying shipping!

Regards,

Mike I got the same Sabre started last week, haven't really formed an opinion of it yet, other than the seat sucks. If you find a good one let me know!

This same kit I did for the Quarterscale build in April. Like I said, there were two on the self and I only got one. Might want to check your local Hobby Lobby because I think they do this price drops on the corp level. If I could get back to the store easily I would go Saul, but it's about 70 miles out of town. (word on the street is we're getting one here in town :dance )

Oh, I have one already! Paid more than $10USD, several times more!

I will see if they have this deal online as Hobby Lobby is only a mere 41 miles North of me.

Nope, very few kits online.

Regards and good hunting,

You'd have a shorter drive than I would. I KNEW I should have grabbed both of them. I figured if I did, I'd get THAT look from my Bride. :blink WAIT! I know one person who might be able to hook you up Saul, he drives up there for work every day. I'll contact him and see if he can swing by.

New today B)

Got some control surfaces for the Bf-109. Its designed for the Hasegawa kit, but I hope it will work for the Trumpeter kit as the rudder is a bit anemic.

Also gotr a gatling gun for my CF-104 and 4 refueling probe tips for some CF-116's.

Great Score Tony !!!

- The AK DAK set - does it come with AK's Mineral Spirits ?

- What are all of th Colors that you picked up from MIG U.S.A. ?

@ JAMES - Does that Gatlin Gun that you picked up happen to come in 1/72nd ? I would like to find a Very Detailed one like that for an upcoming project.

First question:
Well I did get a bottle of White Spirits and I didn't order it. A freebie or with the set I don't know.

Second Question:
I've known Rick Lawler since I first started the hobby so I ask him to recommend the colors I needed.
Instead of the "DOT" technique i've always wondered why not treat each color as an individual.
This is what he told me:

For the "GREEN":
"Olive Green","Green Grass" and "Faded Green". Lots of greens, but each has it's own characteristic. I will often use all three colors on a single green camo patch-always use all three on a single green finish.
(Russian,US and British) The Faded Green is pretty cool and really does give you a washed out look.
"Luftwaffe Yellow" is fun to bring some highlights to the greens.

"Red/Brown Camo"
"Brick Red" is a great color. I will also use the "German Ochre".

German Yellow:
I use "Sunny Skin Tone"and "Basic Skin Tone". They are a little richer in color than just the Buff I use to use.

I also bought a tube of "Field Grey" for those items painted that color to shade them.
And a bottle of their thinner.

That's what Rick told me so that's the colors I got.

They are quite impressive and getting better as time goes on. Wish they would get into 1/35 also.

I haven't spent money on anything model related in a long while but I had to break that just for a bit. Picked up the HobbyBoss M3A1 scout car a few weeks back on Sprue bros and just last weekend while vacationing in Ohio I managed to find Al's Trains and Hobbies and bought myself the Miniart (vision) BA-64

Two excellent little kits that will give me much OOB fun and great palettes for some fun painting and weathering.
