Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

My latest and probably last haul for a while.

The disappointment here is the ACE s.F.H 18 as both the trailing arms and Barrel have sink marks, while the trailing arms can be fixed with quit a bit of work, the barrel is totally unusable. All is not lost however as the gun assembly from either the Dragon or Revell Hummel kit would work quit nicely, it's just that I"d hate to buy a whole kit for just those parts if I can avoid it. If anyone knows where I could locate them I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ouch burn. Guess I won't be posting my Truly epic BS1 haul from the past month or so then :geek :geek :yipee Gotta wait for it to all show up first. Let's just say that new squadron mystery saver thing will be the death of me.

Sweet! All those look wonderful! I built the little "Emka". That was fun and went together quite well! I also built the s.F.H 18 and didn't have a problem with any sink marks on the barrel. Don't remember any on the trailing arms as well, but then I may have just fixed them and moved on. I do want the Soviet staff car, that is one I need, as well as that Einheits Diesel truck.

If you want to, check out "Tracks & Troops" online; he may have a metal gun replacement on there for you to get. Either him or OKB Grigorov has them. That way you don't need a whole kit to replace the barrel.

Let me check my stash. I bought that kit before the Dragon one came out in 1/35. If I can find it, it's yours.

Btw, there is a 1:1 s.F.H 18 at the courthouse close to where I work. I've got a lot of nice photos.

Now on to my workbench...

The Emka and the Staff car are identical plastic, the difference is in the etch and the decals, Armory makes etch for them both which is identical except that the louvers are included in the set for the Emka but not in the set for the staff car? and they are what is different between the 2 kits etch wise. Which means that in a pinch with the Armory etch you could build an Emka from the staff car but not the other way around go figure.

The Einheits-Diesel truck is a very rare item, I was lucky to find one on Ebay so if you see one grab it, interestingly Armory makes an etch set for it as well, I have 2, but not for any of the more readily available MacDist. truck kits.

It looks to me like the s.F.H 18 moulds are at the end of their lifespan in my kit and that the plastic was pulled from the moulds to soon...oh well it's not a total right off, the problem is that the part includes the barrel mount and the sink mark affect both and is almost 2/3 of the depth of the part. so by the time all is said and done replacing the entire gun assembly would bring about a much better result for the time and expense as the rest of the kit gun parts ain't all that good either.

Two for me today at a local IPMS meet. Scorpion for £17 (Hannants £26) and Landrover £10 (Hannants £22)

Been trying to work out that green on the Scorpion, Tried loads but keep coming back to basic RAF green.
The landrover will not be Pink !!!! I absolutely refuse I had a look on line and they were green/black before they were sent to the desert so green/black it will be unless i go for a desert storm type finish but i think that might be tricky as i have never done any armour before...

Looking at both these kits i would think, or at least hope, they are both ancient as the quality is poor compared to the Aircraft kits i usually build. No clear sprus for lights or periscope lenses etc in ether or decals in the landrover ?? No sand tires on the rover either ??
