JGSDF M4A3E8 weathering.

I think this may be the last time using pigments. I just can't seem to get subtle use from them. :idonno

Can you knock some of it off? Takes a lot of practice, just like airbrushing and other stuff. Port side looks pretty good to me.

Doesn't look bad, just need to tone it down a bit. Let's see what others might suggest. :popcorn

This is waay outta my league so, I'll keep my [strike]firecracker[/strike] suggestion to myself & maybe I'll learn somethin' :hmmm
I do agree Bob, port side looks real good :good:

Chad, the thing about dusts (pastels, grout, real dirt, or whatever) is that, unless you sprayed on a fixative, it should wash off.

Should you decide to wash it off and try again, work slowly as 'happy accidents' are known to happen and you may like an effect you created during the removal process.

Regards,

Yes you can try and wash it off. Don't worry the first time I ever used pigments mine looked a lot worse than yours. I have to force myself to remember "a little goes a long way."

I watched a number of videos on youtube. It is to bad Ken Abrams videos are not up anymore they were great.

check these videos out;

There is hours of video out there these just came to mind

A some things I have learned is;

1) it is very hard to use when the suspension and the track for that matter. I can never get it on the hull behind the wheels. I did with my M48 but what a pain.

2) weather the track off the tank and one side one night (the side that touches the ground, both tracks) then do the other side the next night

3) I found that I like using pigments as a wash first, the way I make it is it looks like tinted water. I let each layer dry before adding the next.

4) pigments need to be built up in layers and also mix different colors, the color variations you can get with just two colors is quite a bit.

5) to make mud mix pigment with a little water and use an old paint brush to flick it on the model or I found I have better results blowing it on from the brush using my airbrush

6) you just have to get in there and try, try and try. It is a learning process.

You can check out my M48 weathering with pigments I tried to put most of the steps up. It is probably my best use of pigments to date
