It's a duck !

Yeah :) I need to shoot some primer on it to make sure the problems are totally gone. Hope to soon. :drinks

Thanks Dave, Joey, Mike .

I was actually feeling pretty Ruddy this morning. It finally dawned on me how I could use this 1/32 square brass stock I mistakenly purchased a couple years ago :)

So, I drilled some holes and inserted some square pegs and then you have it. Hinge brackets ! :)

.

I had a lot of time to think during this 2 1/2 hour failure and I came up with a way to get out of buying one of those expensive jigs.

So I gathered all my highly scientific equipment and this scale drawing and cut out the relevant part out of cardboard. :hmmm

Here we are . Three degrees up from horizontal . Hopefully this should work . Nothing else to do while it dries :popcorn

Thanks for looking in. Comments welcomed .

Finally something positive to say. The wings dried nicely overnight and after a much smaller amount of filling they fared in nicely.

This plastic is very soft and in no time was looking good. Only a minimal amount of super glue was needed for filler.

No scientific equipment needed here as the tail is horizontal.

The tail did not require sanding. Only a minor coat of Mr Surfacer followed by a cutip .

The braces had to be shortened a bit. ( better than adding length )

Now, on to the wing floats . . . :soldier

The saga of the ugly Duck continues . . .

Over the weekend I assembled the float and struts with some additional details.

So far, this has been the trickiest part of the kit. In retrospect I think it would have been easier to make the struts from brass rods. :vmad

While the glue was drying on the floats, I freed the engine cowling from it's block of resin and sanded it to fit .

Today, I was thinking about how to mount the upper wing, so I started by sanding and trimming the N struts.

Two hours into it, I realized one of them was not right .

So, thinking of what Chuck might do, I got the finish nails and a source of heat.

and this is what I got !

Thanks for looking. Comments or just curse words will be fine ! :vmad
