It's a duck !

Hey Chris can you show more pics of your riveting tool? Is it home built or bought and if bought where from? Thanks
James

James I do not have a riveting tool . I have several items I use for scribing but I don't think that's what you're after.
If you are speaking about the holes in the front cowling, it's from the mold.

They look awful sloppy. The only things I use for rivet marks are my scribing (sewing) needle as a center punch followed with a # 79 or # 80 drill bit from drill bit city :drinks

Hope that helps.

Cheers, christian B)

Ohh, I was looking at the small drill with the wheel on it and thought that was a riveting tool. The dark blue /black one sitting on your nippers.
James

It's a diamond cut off wheel on the Dremel . Very useful gadget as long as you can regulate the RPM.

Continuing with the ugly Duck saga, I decided to look at the wing & tail plane mounting.

This is not a tongue and groove assembly, so I came up with a scheme so I can have the proper dihedral when the wings are secured.

First. file wing and fuselage butt joins flat.

Second drill some pilot holes in the fuselage. You will need something to keep the model upright ( blue tack ) is what I used.

Having your pilot holes drilled, use a scribe to mark the wing side . One at a time.

Once the holes are the appropriate size . In this case.032 , insert the first brass pin .

Three Carefully align pin and make the second scribe mark on wing.

Drill holes and Insert second pin in wing.

You can now install wing with you favorite glue without worry about slippage.

In this case that will be latter. I have to resolve fit issues with the tail next.

Thanks for looking. Comments welcomed.

Hey Chris, if you insert brass tube in the wing it will give more strength when you slide the brass rod in. Use it like a spar. Nice work btw (y) (y) (y)

I would have but this is pretty thin and if I ran it through I would not be able to adjust the dihedral latter. Trust me, I pondered about that possibility also.

Believe it or not, this is my first time having to add brass to flight surfaces. :S

This will be further reinforced inside with sprue .

Thanks James , Christian B)

Well Dave I got a bit further today. A couple coats of paint.

Some pin feathers for Mike . Mounting pin installed as well as torque tube.

Finally, elevators and trim tabs repositioned just for fun.
