It's a duck !

Well, just doing a bit of office work today. A bit of washing and adding black boxes in preparation for other details :hmmm

Thanks for looking . Comments are welcome .

Bob, as best as I can figure .
The early ducks as well as the ones that went to South America had natural metal interiors. Probably with a clear lacquer coat

The late duck. -5 , -6 and the OA-12 had the zinc chromate and IDG. At least that's what I have read in the instruction and other references.

I would have liked this kit better if it had the parts for an earlier version.

I read that the Duck was subcontracted out to another group so I guess they got standard primer colors.

:popcorn

The last batch was refurbished at Marietta GA. That must have been a strange sight . :S

Sorry I missed this! A challenging kit, when the subject has no other alternative in the preferred scale, is usually the most satisfying in the end. I am sure this will be a winner.

Have you decided on the markings?

Regards,

No problem Saul . :)

As much as I would like to do the South American paint job I chickened out and decided on something not as likely to show the flaws as a shinny doped aluminum paint job.

Namely a USN gray blue color . I think that will allow for possible paint touch up .

As I told you before, I don't much care for biplane builds. Challenging is a kind word for this one.

If you have inputs, I'm still willing to hear :)

A light gray may do the trick? The Argentines kept their aircraft for quite some time:

Perhaps camouflaged?

I have questioned the real color of those aircraft. Some look like silver dope and others appear light gray.

The kit does not have the parts for the early Ducks (short cowl and section forward of canopy).

Besides I am already committed to the interior . The SA. bird having the natural metal ones.

The yellow wing option was very appealing but I don't think it's not gonna be for this build. :(

Thank you guys for all the comments/ ideas ! They are all welcomed :)

Just trying to find an amount of realistic cool that I can pull off.

Greetings Christian;

I love the Duck......... :mpup I would like to find one
in 1/200 scale. For the USS Arizona.

.... .... .

.... Captured Duck, this is how the US Navy hunts Ducks .... .... :idonno

Mike

Well I heard it said that this would be Harummmph ! Challenging .

That statement is wildly understated. Now I understand why you don't see more of these built :vmad .

The interior is in but I want to say that nice as it may have been, absolutely nothing fits.

The instructions should state in bold print "grind out all the interior plastic before attempting to fit any pieces" . Wish I would have realized that before starting

After much fudging and modifying, it's in. ( more or less.

Letting some of these joints harden and venting some frustration before gluing anymore :fencing

Thanks Chuck . My plan now since I can't give it a great cockpit I'll try to make the outside look good enough that no onr will look inside :S
