I just looked at the photographs of 'red 18' again and I am pretty sure the tail band is yellow, a very pale yellow but still yellow. IIRC other aircraft in that unit also had yellow tail bands.
Another feature that most modelers miss when doing this Dora is the small black 17 in a circle that is ahead of the aircraft number. My EagleCals decal sheet for this aircraft does not have this included on it but I figured I can use some of my old Hasegawa decals that have the markings numbered for identification for placing on their models...a coat of Micro Superfilm should be able to make them usable as a proper decal.
