No worries Mooners. I think a quite matte finished greyish black would suffice (some mud up the sides and heels?)

also the radio, I went with black, is this correct?

Nope. The handie-talkie is OD all over including aerial and strap except for the round earpiece, mouthpiece and switch (under his fingers) which are matte black.
