HMS Hood 1/200

This is AMATI's AWESOMELY awesome mixed media kit. Finished, it will be 1314mm long, 150mm wide and 275mm high. Main structural components are Hickory wood with a fair dollop of plastic and a bucket load of brass. It is issued weekly and there are 140 issues. Some time back when they launched their 1/200 Bismarck, I was not really interested so I didn't subscribe, then after the 72nd issue a mate of mine who collected the issues but hadn't built it, gave it to me! Obviously I then got interested and started to build it and continued the weekly subscription to the end - 140 parts later! I started building the Bismarck but that was now a epic task and I wished I did the week by week way. Anyway I got this far with it and then the move happened so it's sitting boxed up in Johannesburg until I buy a new place in about 2-3 years time.

This is pretty much as far as I got with the Bismarck..

I saw this one at the local CNA also Geoff. I am so glad I dont build ships or I might be tempted. :popcorn

That looks fun, Can you actually get that here in the States? We don't seem to have any of those insane magazines like that.

Wow, that is really cool! 140 weeks tho, to get everything, almost 3 years. But I guess it could help prevent burn out, only doing a little bit at a time.

I'd love to do that, but I doubt I could afford the money each month, plus it looks like its only available in the UK.

Definitely a long term relationship. Will be interesting to watch this progress. Wheres the easy chair smiley when you need one.

We get lots of these magazines in the UK. I see someone on another forum is building the Lancaster. Up side is its pretty unique, down side is 140 weeks at £6 a week is £840 ($1340).

I've been away for awhile in China so I missed 3 weeks and when I got back, the news agent only had numbers 5 and 6!!! No4 was apparently short supplied by the publishers so I had to build the little bits from 5 and 6 that I could but that's it - no further without number 4 arrives :vmad
