Great big Harrier abandoned

I would not delete this as it could be a warning to others Paddy. Looks like you got a lot of scrap plastic to do some paint testing on.

OK bob i was just thinking of your web space.
It reminds me of the first 1/24 spitfires Airfix made with no wheel wells or detail but then it is a 50+ year old kit
I feel guilty as i dont think i have done it justice but the further i got with it the more i asked myself...what are you doing ?
Its ironic that these days models are awash with resin and PE options that are 90% superfluous yet this early stuff has no detail up options and really needs it. That said if the basics are just not right you are on a hiding to nothing which is where i found myself. :)

I can see how such a crude, toy-airplane could be daunting to Man of your keen eye for the most meticulous detail. Your progress so far looks amazing. Retractable gear, sliding canopy, rotating thrust nozzles? These sound like fun for a less exacting modeler.
Your airplane model, Your choice. No one will think less of you for your decision.

Sorry to see that you are now passing on this build Paddy. I know you have the skill to make a silk purse out of this sow's ear. I also know that at some point you have to decide if the juice is worth the squeeze.

What you stated on this kit is why some of my kits have never seen the light of day. I have one though that I am planning on getting back into at some point in the near future.
It is another "terrible Trumpeter" kit, the USS Arizona. Literally every little detail that I looked into was incorrect. It was a good "base" to start with, but worked me to death on what I did do. It became a shelf queen as I wanted to do some of the other group builds and thus has been on hiatus for 5 years. It is actually worse than what you are stating about this I am sure as I am going to have to rework the hull, turret faces, and am not even sure at this point what all else.
While I love the thought of large ship models, with Trumpeter's track record of half arsed research and poor execution, I just will never jump on another one of their large navel ships.

Hey, at least ya gave it the good old college try and made a decision. It won't be a hanger queen, cause hanger queens eventually get back on the ramp. Your decision is completely understandable, Paddy.

Ruck On, what's next?

I understand, completely, your reasoning with this beast of a kit. So many kits, so little time!

Model on, Paddy!

Ruck On, what's next?

well i am looking at the kinetic Harrier T4 i bought a while back. It supposed to be a bit difficult as i have the early std kit ( not the new Gold version) It doesnt look too bad ? however there are a lot of spare parts like 2 sets of wings and some spare ejector seats and so on.
Basically i think this is the std single seater with extra pats to convert to the 2 seat T4.
I'm just trying to convert the called out paint Numbers for MIG to Tamiya :)
