I think as i have only done this twice and i was winging it, i would improve greatly with another couple of attempts given this firewall is 10x better than the dashboard

its hard to align things because while you are producing a row of circles across the work you are trying to align to a disrupted pattern above the row. There are no circles above as each new circle disrupts the one above i you see what i mean and the line you are trying to follow is diagonal..
This is a 1950's 14 inch engine turning machine.
its hard to work out what's going on but my best guess is the wheel on the left is the power (manual) the item on the right seems to have gibs so it could be a vertical guide. the pullies lift the square plate with the circle on it ..the tool post is on the front cross slide... but i cant see what turns

but what a brilliant bit of kit

i love things like this. Of course not all engine turning was circular so the above is misleading.
This looks to be a very similar machine
anyway if i get any further into this i will be here all day or week or month
