It was very weird. For 1910 it was totally different to anything that had been built until then. Plywood on a steel structure instead of cloth on a metal skeleton with lots of wires. No propeller either so everyone was :woohoo:

Gustave Eiffel told Coanda "You were born 30-50 years too early".

All going well should be finished this weekend.
 
Gotta wonder if modern technology could make that thing work.

That's what the people at Henri Coanda Association are trying to do. A complete rebuild, 1/1 scale functional replica using materials as close to original as possible. The intention is to demonstrate that it can fly.
Have a look at http://jet100.com - although most of it is in Romanian, translation is in progress, the "As it Was" section is fully translated.
One of their biggest challenges is finding an original engine - the Clerget 4V - apparently impossible task.
