British Army Sioux AH-1

Hey Paddy, one thing that has been a concern for me on these kits is the scale of the boom, you feel like the thickness of the tubing is correct (within reason). There's one kit out there that looks like it's got like timbers in the frame.

Its definitely going to need a bigger propeller on the roof

Boom thickness is approx twice what it should be MP.
You can see here what it should be like. I have already ordered another kit so i can have a proper go sometime with some brass rod

Great to hear youre going to do another one Paddy, I know you will have just as much fun as with this one (y) :notworthy

I said a couple of times recently that I would like to have a go at that boom with brass rod and tubing and soldering it. Don't think I could pull of soldering with the blow torch I got, one of those resistance soldering devices would work much better. It would be an interesting project for sure.

:popcorn

Can't believe how much good stuff I'm missing - need to definitely visit here more often. This is a great build of a neat little subject Paddy. Really love this.

Hey Paddy. As long as you want to be more realistic, you might want to consider vac-u-forming the bubble as well. I'm sure the thickness of it is quite exaggerated as well.

Cheers, Christian B)

actually the bubble is not to bad, i just fitted it and to my surprise its ok :) I just hope the doors fit in the spaces left :)

end of a high speed build and really enjoyed this one. Nice and simple and mostly OTB. Highly recommended cheap model. :)

I have loads of choppers to do so i am tempted to do another. I have 2 Sea kings, Both Hase 1/48 both with a pile of PE. One is a std kit with a flight path conversion set to convert it to a Royal Navy Commando HC-4 and the other is a Royal navy AEW with a full PE kit inc interior.
I am tempted to go with the HC-4 first so if there are any spare PE parts ( as the flightpath set covers several conversions) I will have them for the AEW version later.

as always thanks for the pictures and help here along the way, its what makes this such a good site :) (y)

Paddy when I opened this thread I thought the first picture was a reference picture, I kid not!

Outstanding!

Geez, I've gotta run to keep up with you, Paddy! That came out GREAT- what Monn said about mistaking it for the real thing. With that excellent bkg photo it looks like it's just sitting in a sunbeam, waiting for it's pilot.

Cheers!
