All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

Decals finished now – took three sessions to get all those stencils on, but d*mn they look good – next will be a flat coat (hopefully this afternoon), then I’ll leave it over the weekend to fully dry/cure and complete the detail painting and final assembly early next week.

Thanks Bob... just hoping those panel lines will 'calm down' after a coat or two of matt. Don't want it to look like a 'flying diagram'. :bang head

TOTALY STUNNING

That plane is really coming along very well Ian! Depending on what brand of matt finish you use as to how much it will soften the detail. I know the Testors flat mutes things down quite nicely.

Been working on a T-54B since the spring off and on. Got it painted yesterday and markings for a Somaliland tank. Will have to get the M-47 done soon as a counterpoint from Somalia.

I have been working on some jig and fixture add ons for my alignment tool. Have the drawings mostly done and will be making the parts over the next week or so. Here is a sample of what I am going to be making.

The whole point of these tools will be to make the assembling of the Wingnut Wings kits a little easier and a bit less of a hassle. Then there are some other large kits I have and this should help with assembling those as well.

That looks interesting, but I am not quite sure how it is supposed to work. Would be interested in some pics of it in use when you have it completed.

Nice work on the tank James. That is coming long well.

Paul, I'm not able to make out how that will work either, but the plans do look good. I might have to save those to use for some of my 1/72 scale WWI planes after some size reductions of course.

After a month of my life in total upheaval, I finally found some time to 'play' on the workbench. Let me show you the latest from Maddog Manufacturing. It is a very small update, so...

I'll start with my Borax wagons. They are essentially done except for some dusting and weathering so I moved on to my mules. I started with ten of them; half of the total. Here they are after my basecoat of brown:

My apologies for the messy bench in the background; I know some of you hate to see that. I didn't have anywhere else to shoot these pics. I hope to move forward on these someday soon.

Next up I shot some clearcoats on my C-118, and my USAAF supply set, along with a couple other models. Nothing to see as it was a clear coat so nothing looked any different so no additional pics.

One model I did shoot a pic of that was clearcoated is my Merkava IV. I had also given it a wash and painted some of the details so here it is showing the latest progress:

I also did some of the details on my Roden Vauxhall car, adding the gold trim and painting the radiator grill, among other things:

While I had the airbrush out, I also shot an OD basecoat on my Sherman with the minerollers:

There is still a bit of touchup needed for that as I see under the hull sides....

After that I took a break and got some of the landing craft assembled. I completed the interior part here:

And then test-fit it inside to see how it fit. Surprisingly, this fit fine:

Meanwhile, I tried to get the forward door to fit on that but found out I had glued something wrong on it so I had to repair that. Maybe next time I'll be able to get it to fit right.

Finally, I shot a coat of flat black to the underside and select areas on the space shuttle. Man that felt good making some progress on that for once:

Well that completes my small update. I'll be going back to work so I might not have much time to work on my models again for awhile, but at least I was able to get this much done. I'm thrilled.

Thanks all for looking in, comments are welcome.

Lookin' Good James!

My knowledge of post WW II armor is poorly lacking! Did/do you have to do any modifications beyond markings to convert it to a Somali T-54?

I only found 3 pictures of these tanks but all were missing the fuel drum brackets and unditching log brackets. So those spots required filling. Otherwise it is oob. The markings are just the 4 yellow markings on the turret and they are from Star decals. I do have metal tracks for it and they are going together slowly. I was intrigued by the country as I had never heard of Somaliland before. But its in the north part of Somalia. Noone in the world recognizes them but they have had autonomy since around 1998 I think? From what I was reading their economy has been doing well and they are courting the oil and gas and tourism organizations.
In counter point I will do a Somali M-47 (Ex Iranian M-47). Those took a beating from what I read and none survived.

Today I did some detail painting and dulcoated the SA-2 and T-54. Now to weather some. Didnt get to the second colour for the Snow Leopard though.

OKay! Somaliland Huh? That makes two of us! I never heard of it either!

Gotta tell you! I would definitely feel comfortable at your workbench! It's almost as cluttered as mine! :yipee
I'll never know how some of these guys turn out beautiful masterpieces and their benches look like a workbench showroom!

Hang in there James!
