Aw man, you're leaving Chuck? NO! Damn, I've always been thrilled to meet you at TVMC and Valleycon and other places! We never get to spend enough time together! Crap! Everyone is leaving me behind....
I hope you have a great move Chuck and have fun up there. Hopefully we'll catch up a\t another Comicon someday...
As for what's on my bench....
Not much anymore. I spent a day or so just clearing it off in an attempt to try and organize it. I am stunned at the amount of stuff that came off that place; and I'm not done yet!
Here it is almost all cleared off:
You can still see some of the things I hadn't removed just yet. Now for the things I had removed....
I'll start with the Works in Progress and Shelf Queens that have graced this bench for more than a year:
About half of them cannot be finished due to lack of parts and stuff. These also don't include my three larger projects that are sitting on my spraybooth for lack of a better place to put them.
But there's more....
Here's the tray of small sprues and decal sheets that I removed as well. None of these (so far) are parts to complete the Shelf Queens you saw above:
Now for more parts; this time they are dio parts, accessory parts and other parts not attached to sprues for the most part. I left a tube of glue in the pic so you could see how big this bowl is:
Again, none of them (so far) will allow me to complete any Shelf Queens.
Amazed yet? Wait till you see this....
These are all the paints and spray bottles I pulled from the bench. The larger bottles are stacked two high:
I need to go through them and find out which ones are all dried up and useless and get rid of them. Then I have to figure out where to put the rest...
While pulling everything off, I found a number of things I hadn't known I had (or at least in the numbers I have them)
For instance, these three bottles of dullcoat:
That'll cover a good number of small armor models...
Then there are these three bottles of airbrush thinner for my Testor's enamels:
These will help immensely.
I think I'm set for glue at least; I was quite surprised at how many of these I had, and all of them are good!
And yes, I still use them quite extensively and not for sniffing!
Not only that, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see I have all these... and they are all full!
These also do not include all the paints, glues and accessories I have in my portable tool box that I take to Hobby Days.
Now, with all that removed from my bench (and more) I made an attempt to start organizing a little better so I could find things. Not to mention, have more room to work on things as well.
To the left of my workbench is a credenza that has three drawers. The bottom two drawers now contain my many parts boxes. Some of those boxes I need to go through and remove parts from the sprues and sort them out. That will come later. The top drawer is organized thusly:
The box at the bottom of the pic contains my tools: Sprue cutters, tweezers, picks, scrapers, Exacto knives, etc. The ones I use the most are on top of the purple lid. The box above it contains all my sanding sticks, sanding pads, sanding tools and files. The box above that contains miscellaneous other tools such as scissors and other tools that don't fit in the first box. The last box contains diorama base fixings and lead weights for tail-heavy aircraft.
Finally, I had a lazy Susan type thing that I combined with a desk organizer that I'd gotten from the wife. Underneath it I have all my bottles of Aqua Clear, liquid masks, decal film, washes, powders and other accessories. Above in the organizer are my paint brushes, more files and sanding sticks, some Windsor Newton oils and other accessories:
Well, that's where I am now. Still trying to find out where to put the rest and how to organize the rest. Until then, all construction has stopped.
I'll keep you posted on all that I complete later on....
