All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

It was a brisk -32 C here this morning. It is now a sunny -26 C at lunch time.

Cheers,
Rich

You're spoiled, Chuk! 56° is t-shirt weather in Cleveland. How close to the coast do you live? I didn't have A/C when I was stationed in the US Virgin Islands... who needed it!?

Bob, we had A/C at Whiteman, but only because it was a few miles south of the demarcation line separating the Northern Tier from the Southern Tier.

That's not to say we didn't need it in ND. But wasn't worth the money to have it for only two months. I remember one week we had high temps over 100 for 6-7 days in a row. At least down here we can retreat inside and cool off. There was no retreat up there.

Oh what a slippery slope, I went to replace one electrical outlet in the ceiling that supplies power to the lights and wires started falling apart. Up in the attic to replace, rewire and cuss. Checking out the other outlets now. No lights right now. :bang head

Just be glad that you discovered those bad wires berfore Sparky came. Sometimes there really is a silveer lining in that cloud and ijn your case finding bad wires before they caused a bad fire is indeed a blessing.

Cheers from Peter

Well I pay extra on homeowners covering the garage and got contents documented. I took the face plates off all the other outlets and they look good. Seems to be just this one. I'm not so brave at the breaker panel so I may get someone to check it out.

Long day in the garage, very productive but didn't touch a model. Cleared out old junk, 4 trashbags full so far. Now rearranging the work bench and other work spaces. Got a good bit done but it was just one corner..:rotf. Heading to the other corner tomorrow.

Even planning on going to get a new cutting mat!!

It's really not that difficult Bob. I ran 4 new circuits for my mom in her kitchen this summer so that she'd have dedicated power for the refrigerator & the deep freeze she had, the microwave and the new wall oven I helped her install. Had to install 4 new breakers in the panel, making sure it didn't exceed the service limit on the panel, and making sure the new breakers were sized correctly. Hardest part of the whole thing was the oven had 2 hots, a neutral and a ground, instead of the regular single hot, neutral & ground.

Yeah the oven would be 220 (221, whatever it takes :rotf ). Problem with my breaker box is it's old as hell. The old guy who had the house prior to us was from the old school of never throw out anything and use it again. The breaker box is so old I can't get new breakers for it, even if one burned out. He used old wiring for some projects though and that's scary.

Bob,

Look at all the money he saved by using extension cords in the walls! And that 1960 box? It is an antique; you can sell it on eBay!

Starting 6 months of parental leave at home with my 6 month old girl today. Don't have to go back to work until June 29th!

So far, it's been hectic as hell (but fun)!

Spent the whole day today at Pearl Harbor and did the whole tour... Arizona, Missouri, Pacific Air Museum and the Bowfin. Even managed a quick drive through of the Punch Bowl Cemetery. What an awesome experience.

Oh yeah!!! :coolio

They are all on my camera so I won't be able to upload until I get home. I did attempt to take a selfie with my phone on the Missouri... but I suck at selfies.

Cool stuff. I envy you. The Bowfin is really cool. It seems so big inside until they tell you how many people lived on it and then it gets real claustrophobic. If you want to see another really beautiful place to Hanauma Bay. It is so incredible. I recommend keeping a shirt on as you snorkel. Very easy to get a sunburn in those waters. Also don't go beyond the reef as there is a strong tide that carries you out of the crater. Lastly walk around to the toilet bowl. It is a blow hole that is fun to ride. Water pressure wont let you touch the sides and every 3rd or so push will shoot you out. (girls kept losing their tops when I was there too :) )

Enjoy.
