All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

You mean old man!

Just checked on her, she's move to the other end of the couch to lay in the sun, guess I should have put the windows where she doesn't have to move. :facepalm

Labs are happy dogs... scratch them, feed them and let them sleep with you in the bed and they are content... I too was cruel to our three dogs and the cat... tough. I feed them, love them, walk them and let them live, inspire of the fact that they wake me up at 3:30 because they heard a noise 6 blocks away that might, possibly be a serial killer...

A thing y'all won't know about me is my opinion/feelings about GARDENING.

Be in no doubt whatsoever, I HATE, LOATH & DESPISE ANY AND ALL ASPECTS OF GARDENING, love the garden, love being in the garden, especially on a day like today, 25c, with a beer a comfy garden chair and nobody in the house. But gardening, no, not ever, absolutely not.

I spent three hours in 20c+ intense New Zealand sunshine this morning swearing and sweating, hacking-back overgrown shrub borders, hedges & edges whilst Daddies Little Stormtroopers sat cool and well behaved in the shade of their rooms occupied by their Christmas presents. Man I was in a horrible mood by lunchtime. So after a cool shower, half a bottle of Ice Tea, and a pie, Frau packed the aforementioned Stormtroopers into the MPV and took them to a local swimming-hole. In the meantime I've charged around the house with the vacuum and, (queue Model-Related bit:), cleared my display cabinets of everything with a propeller (except my A-1H), lots of space for jets now, not that I plan on building anything particularly massive, but let's be honest they do occupy more real-estate than equivalent prop-powered models.

And now I'm spending some 'special time' with my PC and the other half of the Ice Tea bottle. Thanks for reading, think I've exorcised my gardening demons for today.

Brother Ian....

Amen Brother, Amen. Gardening went to crap with Adam and has not improved with age. My father wanted to pave the yard and paint it green. We had 1.6 acres when I was a kid and a 5hp lawn mower. One guess who cut the grass every Saturday? It wasn't Samuel Millisor!

My back yard has very little sun exposure. Carol's X planted 2 birch trees to absorb excess ground water. The sum bitches are 2X the size they should be. Now I have to trim them... All 5'8" of me and a ladder...

The only plant I will futz with are hydrangeas, I like hydrangeas

I don't mind getting in the yard and getting at it. Part of my weight loss program. I hate tredmill or any other machine that I spend time and energy one with nothing in return. Time an energy in the yard I get a good looking yard and weight loss is a byproduct.

And Kenny, I stand corrected on the H. in Peacan. :notworthy

I actually enjoy gardening to a degree. I love being able to see something growing from the work I do. That is also why I buy a potted Christmas tree. I can grow it and keep it for the next year. One Christmas tree I had stayed alive for seven Christmases; that was seven times I didn't need to buy a tree. I like the weight loss I get from it too, but living in a second story condo doesn't give me that opportunity anymore. Therefore, I subsidize my eating habits with trips to the gym.

Hate Yard work with a passion too!

On the positive, since the boss gave me a really nice Christmas bonus, I used part of it to order the WNW's kits I was wanting. The Gotha and a D-VII (Alb). Will consider a couple more in a month or 2. So sometime in mid January I will get my box just in time for my Birthday. (y)

Oh what a slippery slope, I went to replace one electrical outlet in the ceiling that supplies power to the lights and wires started falling apart. Up in the attic to replace, rewire and cuss. Checking out the other outlets now. No lights right now. :bang head

Next thing you know, you have rewired the whole house and upgraded the panel

Good grief Bob. How old is that wiring anyway ? :idonno

Shhh....

I terminated the junction in that box. He had one lead coming in and three feeders going out from there, one to the light socket. I cleaned that up and closed off the box with a blank. Rewired my light fixtures with longer cords to reach a good box. So, I got LIGHTS!

Well I got the top part cleaned up, no more hanging cords across the ceiling. Now to the shelves tomorrow.

Chris, from the looks of it the wiring is older than the garage. :blink I say that because both this garage and the garage at Ma-in-law was built at the same time back in '86 or there abouts. Cindy's Dad wired his garage with all new and standard stuff at the time. The old guy who had this house must have recycled some really old stuff, I think the breaker box is of 60s era. I told you once I found an extension cord spliced into the line for the wired smoke detector didn't I? Frugal is one thing but this stuff was just CHEAP.

Okay, thats just scary. Best get an Electrician to certify your work though. Up here we can do wiring and then get an electrician to come in for a few bucks. Reason is if a fire breaks out and its electrical and they find it wasnt done or certified by an Electrician they dont have to pay. Or at least that is what I was told.

My house in town was circa 1940 and had the old spaghetti wire which was still barely good .

Is the copper breaking down or is it the insulation ?

Cheers, Christian B)

We got back from Seattle last night around 9- and the house was freezing! It turns out a mighty wind came up on Christmas day brought the temps down. We had to finally knuckle down and turn the heat on today- it was 56 degrees F in here!
