All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Well I was taking inventory last night of what I might take to the show today. It dawned on me, you guys give me some grief about being an Aircraft builder, I got more completed armor stuff than aircraft! :soldier

In a stretch of work that between the two jobs I will not have a day off until the 27th.

So off to work today at the office and then this afternoon I really need to do a long overdue update on the Five Window.

By the way, they were cat scanned and found to be good .

After opening the box I was somewhat dismayed that a raffle item had parts previously cut off the sprue and taped together :facepalm Would you really do that at :idonno your big show ? :idonno

Anyhow , not damaged but it feels like a reject from someone.

I wonder how many people were dismayed when they received the kits (former review samples I didn't wish to keep) which I donated to shows for raffles? If the tape was on it, I can understand but was the kit complete and unbuilt?

I have not done a parts count but my point is that tickets were bought and paid for....

If you had given me something I would have simply appreciated the gift , no questions asked.

So am I wrong to donate my unneeded review samples to shows at which they will probably be raffled off?

I'm not saying that it's totally wrong if it's all there but a readily observable sign concerning the status would be very appropriate to know what you're hopping to win.

Last year I bought an SB-2 and upon opening the box I found the wing spars glued in but in the wrong place.

I should have looked but on the other hand it should have been marked accordingly.

Before it became so mechanised here It was beautifull to hear 20 - 30 men using the song to keep pace together to work Especialy the pixaxe was awesome to hear.

I think what you posted was beautiful Dave.

Myself, if I had to take care of a whole tree I would prefer the sound of a chain saw. Not nearly as pleasant though.

Regards,

I for one don't think so.Yes, they may have been opened, but you did make sure that everything was still in the kit for anyone else who gets it. I've been where Phantom was though; I'd gotten raffle prizes at some contests that were the started discards of the club's members; all were either missing parts, had the wrong parts (i.e. canopies), or had badly damaged parts from 'failed experiments'. I did build them, but in many cases it meant buying aftermarket things to replace what was missing.

I have also received unneeded review kits that had been donated to a club's raffle and never had any issues. In fact, if the reviewer hadn't come up to me to tell me he'd reviewed it, I would never have known it was a review kit. Therefore, I believe a clarification is: any raffle prize should be an, unstarted and complete kit; not something that had been started and then donated because the builder decided not to go though with it.

I for one say: By all means Saul, keep donating those unneeded review kits; if you want to send any donations to IPMS Orange County for our Orangecon contest in October, let me know and I'll send you my address so you can send them to me to pass along.

Dave my sound wasn't working so I'll try to watch that again tomorrow; it does look interesting. Your comment about listening to 20-30 guys all singing as they worked reminds me of the days at Knott's Berry Farm when were we building Halloween Haunt. On one maze build we were blasting our tunes and singing along with it as we worked. Ah what a day! We got so much done and done well that day!

Today, we went shopping for a new cell phone for me. I'm getting an Iphone 6. It's supposed to be in on Friday.

Tomorrow I hope to get some pics taken of all the models I finished last week and this weekend and get them all posted. I may have to wait till Tuesday or Wednesday though...
