Thats easy Barney Blunt off one blade and tape an old plastic pill box to it that will fit your makes of paint inside it. If there is space inside when you put the paint holder inside just add some sponge. Add a metal BB or 2 inside the paint holder. Close the pillholder with some elastic around it to make sure you dont paint the ceiling (Dont ask how I know I aint telling  )within a few seconds or minute even old Humbrol is as smooth as silk. Well back from my Daughters place where Son in Law grilled up some smokies and burgers for supper. Celebrated 4 birthdays as we have 4 that fall within about 3 weeks of each other. Great time.

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Man, what a day.

My wonderful day started out by being informed that I was being laid off.

Company I work(ed) for has been noticeably slowing down for the last few months, leaving me w/ fewer & fewer projects to work on, until it got to where over the last several weeks that I've had absolutely no design projects to work on.

It wasnt a totally unexpected thing to have happen, but it still came as a surprise.

Thankfully I've been given a full 40hr paycheck for this week, even though I only put in 24hrs, and I'm being given 3 weeks severance which will help, and I qualify for unemployment, but found out a little while ago that when I'll be getting for unemployment will only add up to a bit more than half of what I was making at my job.

My resume as already updated b/c I'd been applying at a few local places to try picking up a part time night/weekend job to bring in some more money.

I've already signed up w/ a couple local engineering staffing companies, as well as submitted my resume for a few CAD Designer positions, and I'm already accumulating a list of local places that I'm going to start hitting tomorrow to put in my resume.

Really hoping I can land something fairly quickly. My wife's only been getting about 6 hrs a week at her job, effectively only bringing home about 200 bucks a month, so her income alone, and my unemployment, wont last long before we fine ourselves in very dire straights.

Kinda hoping that I might actually stumble into a racing related job. I've wanted to get into racing for a very long time. This afternoon I stopped by our apartment complex office to pay our rent, and informed the lady in the office that I'd lost my job, and that its possible things could get to the point where we'd have to break our lease b/c of inability to pay the rent. She asked me what work I did, and I told her, and she said she'd talk to the complex manager, to see if they could figure out who in the complex works for any of the local race teams that they might be able to hook my up with, which would just be awesome.

Adam,

As you may remember, I went through the whole laid-off thing from 6/11-1/13... I was lucky that I could cash out my retirement to live off of... Hang tough... Apply for every job you can think of... (I worked for Welfare for 6 mo.) I will be praying for you

Thanks Barney.

I've already put together a list of 7 local places that I know do CAD design work, that I plan on visiting this morning, plus I was thinking about just kinda driving around to see what I could find, in the off chance I might stumble across a place that might do design work.

Good luck with the job search Adam. I've been in the same boat as you and Barney. This weekend I am in the hellish world of Portland visiting my inlaws. Never one of my favorite things to do.

Well, I suppose yesterday was a constructive day. Made 8 stops, and dropped off 7 resumes. Also signed up for 2 more engineering related employment agencies, and emailed out 3 or 4 resumes online.

Stopped by my old office yesterday afternoon to pick up a couple of things that I wasnt able to take when I left Thursday morning. While I was there, I was talking w/ the office/sales manager about what happened, how things looked for the future and whether there was a chance I could come back, etc. He was telling me that the decision to lay people off was made by the parent company, and from initiation to execution was less than 4 days, and explained why it was so quite. He told me that if the decision had come from within the company, then there would have been more noise, but the parent company doesnt work that way, so hence no real forewarning that it was coming.

I'm really hoping to land something within a couple of weeks, but I'm not holding my breath on it. I'm also hoping to stay local to where I'm at, but I'm starting to branch out. I've started looking at some positions I've found in upstate South Carolina, and looking at the possibility of maybe moving to South Carolina, but thats just a real basic idea at the moment.

Have fun at the show Bob, I remember the Atlanta group putting on some great shows in the past.
