All Righty ... What's on the bench today?

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Last of the Christmas shopping to do today. Mats I'm with you, wasted Sunday just vegging out, didn't get to the garage till about 8pm and can't call it much progress then.

Heck- that's when everyone around here goes to bed and I finally get the chance to get up to the man room ;) Lately I have been up there "wrapping presents" though so it's all good ;)

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Work, go home, model a bit, wrap some presents, model a bit, have a nice meal, model a bit ....

Recurring pattern :hmmm

Shalom.

Well I did all my Christmas shopping early this year! Rode the bicycle through the snow to uptown at 0800 today and got all my shopping done by 0930. Sure does beat waiting until 1400 to do it.

For those who celebrate it, Merry Christmas. To those who don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays.

Be careful on the roads during the holidays.

"May all of you live long and prosper."

Cheers from Peter

Hmmmm....

Got my cable and electric service hooked up in the new place, bought Disney on Ice tickets for the grand baby, arranged for my furniture to be moved next Friday... so far so good...

I probably should get something to eat before I waste away....

Oh gee, I wish I had that kind of recurring pattern! :blink Man you really got it rough dude! :pinch: ;) :silly:

Last night I watched two episodes of M*A*S*H, both Christmas episodes: "Dear Sis" and "Death Takes a Holiday". Both always move me to tears. Today, I am heading out to Physical Therapy for my thumb, and afterward I'll be resting up for Midnight Mass. That, to me, is the ultimate celebration of Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone.

And too you to Mark! Right now I'm trying to clean out my pot cabinet (no jokes please). Mom and sis gave me a set of Belgique pots and pans now I have an excuse to straighten that cabinet up- Merry Christmas everyone- I'm cooking this weekend! :drinks

Good night all!

Just got back from a job bid for putting in a new sprinkler system at a house. Probably be starting that job on the third week of January after finishing another patio cover repair job/trim paint.

Later, I hope to get to the workbench....

I successfully hooked up a new Amp/Receiver without swearing. Am I getting old or something?

I think hooking up something without angst means an understanding of what you are doing. (I always get mixed up with the "input -in" and "out-put" labels)

This is old. I successfully (easily) hooked up my old (c. 1974) Marantz separates in my new office (man cave). Old school flash back.

Cheers and Happy Holidays,

Bill

Now THAT looks familiar! The lovely thing about new stuff is that the HDMI cables replace so many damnable wires. We are, thanks to a gift from my incomparable wife, joining in the world of streaming entertainment. It's likely that we'll be dumping portions of our current dish bills- we shall see. Looks like a nice "office", Bill- cheers!

That thing probably pulls more power than some of our Servers! Nice one Bill, testament to the quality of things back then that it still fires up.

Thanks Chuck! Thanks Bob!
The humorous contrast is I've hooked up an ipod mini (that my wife never used) to the aux. input. 800 songs on something the size of a match book.
Next I'll dust off the old Dual™ turntable and listen to the pops and crackles of classic rock on vinyl. (y)

Cheers,

Bill

Nothing beats the sound of vinyl...

Many moons ago, when the world was young and Chuck and I had hair... I, along with One Billion others, had the whole component system... HK amp, AMT speakers, BO turntable... sigh... Now all of that is condensed into a small package the size of a match box...

Not that I am complaining mind you... it is a lot easier to carry an iPod than all of that and the 8 million records...

Still moving... kitchen and books are moved...working on model room and clothing... how did I ever collect so much stuff? for 50 years I never had more than a dozen boxes of stuff and furniture... I guess living in the same place for 10 years accounts for the accumulation of so much junk...

At least the Trash Pickers are happy... I am tossing tons of perfectly useable stuff...

All Righty ... What are you doing today ?

Good luck with that move, barney- getting rid of junk is so cathartic. Time for a new page!

Thanks, Chuck! This is my 54th change of address in the past 60 years... I kid you not... The longest I have ever lived at ano address is my current home 10 years, 4 months. The shortest? 7 weeks.

Getting rid of junk does feel good... and we always think: Why the F did I ever keep that? I haven't used it in 5 years! Or, my favorite... What is this and why did I buy it? What is it used for? Maybe one of my daughters knows???

No one but me gets to trash the stash!!! Fortunately, Carol supports the mess I make...

Until my move to this home, I had two stereo systems, one of which was equipped with a Thorens Black Forest turntable (bought simply because it was the only one still turning 78rpm for my fathers wax collection) and a Pioneer linear tracking turntable. Aside from the 'system', I had my portable.

OK, laugh...

This is not mine as I gave it away.
NakamichiSystem-OneSide-02.jpg

It's on wheels which makes it portable and the top tray was for the turntable. The side had a hook for my Sony Boodo Khan over the ear headphones.

Ah, the memories of being single and spending a fortune on sound equipment! I wonder how many, aside form Laura who works in a high end shop, know what the white noise generator was for on high end equalizers? How many remember the ugly plastic but oh so great sounding Proton Audio equipment? Their alarm clock was superb and my girlfriend (at that time) freaked when I said it cost me $118USD!

Regards,

It was hi-fi golden age. Remember and smile.

Cheers,

Bill
