Quit my job !!

Quick update - I have been lucky, the day after I quit, I got a part-time (cash-in-hand) job, starting in January, as a relief driver on the local Rural Post Route. Initially just a day a week but the other two relief drivers are getting on a bit in years so there will be more work. Means a 4am start but I used to work night shifts back in the UK, so not a prob getting-up before the birds !!

...'course, even with my daily 'House Elf' duties, it still leaves me a fair bit of time for playing with bits of plastic !!

(Just to emphasise, I understand there are many folks who would like to quit their jobs, and many who have been forced to quit or been 'released' against their will. I quit simply because it cost me more to go to work than we could realistically sustain any more).

Well I started the day at the Hill Top Cafe in Lakeville IN eating breakfast with our pal Adam, shame we couldn't meat up for wings and cold beer but that's how things roll sometimes. :drinks

I did get to check out the bunker in Plymouth IN and enjoyed some BS session with Adam, but I fear we were not alone.

Left South Bend at about 12:30 packed in like sardines, I know I didn't gain weight on this trip so I'm at a loss why the seat belt wouldn't buckle...damn seats are getting more narrow. Landed at Detroit with plenty of time to get to the next gate. One delay after another we're still standing there. Then someone walks up, calls me by name! I looked up, havne't seen him in 20 years, my old room mate's brother! You can't get away with nuffin' I'm hear to tell ya.

Landed in my beloved South Carolina, found comfort in my ol' pickup truck and first turn I made I was in stand still interstate traffic. Good to be home! :drinks

Have all the sympathy for everyone having to put up with the cold weather, 10 years ago I was freezing as well.

Australia, my new homeland, Sydney, summer time baby :yipee Bondi beach or similar or just the swimming pool in the complex where we live.

Well the move is basically finally complete :yipee :geek Sarah and I do have to go back on Thursday to do the final cleaning and bring back one small load of stuff. But other then that I am finally moved into the new place and can start rebuilding the hobby cave. Which means I can start gluing my fingers together again. Might go to the hobby store in town today just because I can hehe.

Looking to be a white Christmas here at the base of the Adirondacks we got 12 inches of snow...just finished plowing with the tractor and am now warming up with some eggnog and Winterjack

Cantor at church this morning, rehearsed Christmas Eve lessons and carols, lunch with munchkin #2 & GD. Infusion complete and just sitting here....

Woke up ready to free the frozen automobiles which were ready to slide off an iced driveway (which I cleared with my snow thrower yesterday). Instead, I see my breath but it isn't a horror movie. Heater's motor seized up. So I call technician, $225USD plus tax for emergency (weekend) service, who gets it running for now but doesn't have a replacement motor. Later on this week, another visit and bill.

So I go outside to clear the automobiles and feel like an ice skater. Start the snow thrower (more like an ice and slush thrower). After an hour, as I am nearing the end of clearing the driveway from the ice and snow removed from the cars, I grasp the bale handle and the wire slaps me in the face while the auger stops. The control wire snaps, Sears has a replacement for $10.85USD but the parts shop is closed on Sunday.

Prepared some Pork Loin Boricua style along with baked sweet potatoes. All my modeling mojo gone.

June '77 I was at my GQ station in the gun on the USS Capodanno FF-1093. I was the gun captain and while we were shooting a SINKEX one of the powders separated and we had a small in bore detonation or in bore explosion. It was a bad powder all around and luckily the full charge was what we called a wet bail of hay.

I was thrown back against the gun house and injured my back. I recovered but over the years the back has been
acting up real badly and subsequently is one of the reasons that I have a 90% disability rating.

I went to the VA doc last week and I told him that I have been off the pain meds for about 6 months now because they just didn't seem to be working. I have taken NSAIDS, hydrocodone of various strengths and even Oxycontin. and none of them did any good. Now he has me on timed release morphine two times a day and I have been feeling more like my old self today except for the "weeeeeeeee" feeling and big smile on my mug.

Not a very good time to be trying to paint details on a spinner but hey it sure is fun trying. :dance

Gonna be interesting at work today & tomorrow. A new president has been hired for our company, and he's going to be in our office today & tomorrow. Always interesting when a new bigwig starts. Kinda makes everyone a bit jumpy till you figure out what kind of person he is.

Just finished a week of setting up, then running a full-on Nativity play. Over 40 live actors and several live animals were a part of this; including a camel and the donkey that Mary rides in on. I worked one of the spotlights for all the performances. Now I'm just resting and trying to recover from all that work and lack of sleep; especially since I'm still trying to recover from a mild cold.

Just found out that we are being released 50 minutes early today... Bigwigs must have something else to do... That means I can pack some more stuff and mail some stuff for Christmas...

Made the last trip to Burns (armpit of Oregon). The old place is now empty and cleaned up. Turned the keys in and now to get the new place together. Also just got back from Lowe's with tomorrows project... the new hobby desk :yipee :yipee :geek
