Aircraft at Sea

P-40s, P-38s, RA-5Cs, A3Ds,Corsairs, :hmmm

Really ?? :hmmm

Ian.

Yeah, I had seen somewhere online where they were transported on a CVE to one of the islands in the Pacific.
Will see if I can't find it again

Where they were probably unloaded and probably assembled... :pilot

Well if you do that then we could a P-51 and C-130.

Is anyone keeping track of what campaigns I need to start up?

Sounds like a Problem ... I hope You can straighten it out ... I'm not even sure what I signed up for ... Somebody stop this thing ... :coolio :rotf :woohoo:

Seems this is SADave's mess :idonno

Oh yeah! Sho' is All SA Dave's doing!!  :drinks
As much as I like an P38 I dont think they flew off or landed on a ship or directly from the ocean so they aint really sea going then are they.

I've been looking for the pics I had seen but, you may be right.... https://wwiiaircraft.wordpress.com/2014/03/01/p-38s-and-p-47s-aboard-the-carrier-uss-barnes/
I do know the P-47 has flown off the carriers & I think the P-51 as well...

Actually.....when i worked at Lockheed martin, they had several pics on the walls of a C-130 that landed and took off from a carrier! Granted, it was test mode, but it did happen.

There is a wealth of foreign stuff too, British, Russian, French.........

Interested, ut not sure if I can commit. I do not want to over commit

Ok,this has gotten beyond dumb.

Just because it was transported by a ship does not equal operating at sea .

You guy just let me know if you come up with a sea campaign :idonno

I agree Chris Planes / Helicopters should at least have taken off and landed on a carrier or be capable of taking of landing on the ocean by themselves.

If one needs to include every conceivable possibility to get folks to join, what's the point. Maybe just make it a 'Build whatever the heck you want' campaign !

Already got one. :rotf

OK, Executive Decision. Tail Hook campaign will go ahead, we'll figure out the date later.

I'll merge these two threads.

The aircraft in question, any navel aircraft, including land based or just aircraft that operate from a ship? Amphibious?

With all this discussion about this we better have 100% completion! :bat

To SA Dave - sorry did not mean to "Muck up the waters" I took this to mean "any aircraft that operated off a carrier on a repeat basis."

Lots of odd things have been landed or launched FROM carriers, some a fair number of times, but that does not mean they SHOULD be considered. Again, sorry.

TO MP - "NAVEL" aircraft? You men the kind that have a belly button????? :mpup

Ok I started the "TAILHOOK CAMPAIGN" back in 2011. My intent was a build that would be about aircraft that operate from a carrier "NOT" being transported on a carrier, "NOT" just taking off from a carrier(p-40-b-25), "NOT" landing on carrier in an emergency(ARVN hueys from vietnam), "NOT" Apollo space capsules, "NOT" Japanese army aircraft crashing into a carrier, and "NOT" some sailer chucking a wrench at a passing plane, just planes/helocopters you know the ones that live and work on a carrier. SEEMS PRETTY DAMN SIMPLE TO ME! Quit debating a subject just to hear the keys click. If you don't have any carrier planes that's ok don't join, but please stop trying to fit what you have into a build. If you're just debating..... well we got a way to fix that.

are we clear now?
