1/72 Middle East Street

Sherman 18

Master at Arms
I saw this kit and thought it would make a neat display for the 1/72 T-72AV I had built earlier. Kit is all resin from Blackdog. I thought it was a little over priced but it could save me time. The castings are a bit rough; a lot of signs the mold breaking down and some spots of air bubbles. Both really do not bother me on something like this, the whole idea is for the broken city street.

I first washed the castings in Royal Purple and then let dry for a could of days. While the parts were drying I watched a lot of video of Syrian T-72s in action on YouTube.

I then could not resist a quick test of the layout with the T-72, only to find the tank doesn't fit the scene well.

Assembly is pretty straight forward with a grand total of five parts. I removed the casting plugs with a razor saw and then filed down remaining plug.

I removed/knocked down the rubble in the center of the street with my Dremel. In watching the street fighting in Syria I noticed that there was piles of what looked to me as sand in the streets. I'll figure out what I'm going to do as I go along with this.

Next up primer and paint

Some pictures of after primer and a base coat of Tamiya flat black. All the Tamiya paint that I used for all the airbrushing was thinned 3/4 thinner and 1/4 paint. I have never thinned paint for base coats like that before. I'm going to start doing it on everything I really liked how it went down.

I then sprayed Tamiya Panzer Gray for the asphalt

Inside the building I sprayed Tamiya Light Blue on the inside walls of the ground floor and Tamiya Yellow for the second floor inside walls

On the outside of the multi story building I sprayed Tamiya Flesh and then the small building was sprayed Tamiya Light Gray. With both of these colors I added drops of Tamiya Buff until I thought it was a good shade of color.

The start of detail painting with a mix of Vallejo paints.

In the last month I have had no luck on anything. No progress other than ordered some figures, maybe here in a month or six weeks. My heath kind a went on a vacation at the end of last month, just barely stayed out of the hospital. On this last Saturday I ended up having to stop something (a high speed chase) for work and now only have approximately 30-40% use of my left shoulder. I not sure who the stupid contest there.IMG_5880 (1).JPGIMG_5883 (1).JPGIMG_5891 (1).JPG

Looks like a nice text book pit move though. :vgood:

I surely hope they didn't try to use that gun!

I suggest bourbon and a good chiropractor for the shoulder.

Thank you for your service Sherriff. :salute:

Wow Jeff sorry you had to go to great lengths there and mess up your truck in process of Sheriff business. Hope the shoulder gets better soon!

Jeff, thank you for your service as well. Great job stopping the guy. Take care of the shoulder; Bob's recipe sounds about right. I'll be praying for your swift and full recovery.

Shoulders are the worst! Messed mine up in HS wrestling. DO what the PT folks tell you. I use CBD cream on mine and that seems to work wonders.
