Wings of the Red Star (2)- Ilyushin IL-2 Sturmovik

Thank you so much guys. You are ever so Kind.

Last ditch effort before I sign out for my trip to DC. Looking Forward to crossing the Pond again, haven't been in the USA for 12 years! :pilot

I have listened to you and this is the new painting and weathering. Less is more.

Let me know what you think, maybe this is indeed the way to go. I like it. I will try to get the main assembly tonight.

Cheers

Alex

Hey guys

Missed you too... ;)

Just got back yesterday the pictures you saw are still from before my vacation. No progress I am hoping to get some work done later on this week. I will post it right away.

This engine was a drag to get right but once it all fit I just couldn't believe how great it looked.

Btw I had a wonderful time in DC my talks went really well and I also managed to spare some time for the air and space museum.

I will post some pics on another thread. Now I need to see what junior needs - he's calling his dad a lot after spending 2 whole weeks together.

Cheers

Alex

Hey all,

I did not get to the one in Dulles, I was really pressed for time so I only managed the main one in the Mall. I had been there before but it was a pleasure to re-visit it. And to see one of the few surviving Macchi Mc.202 "in the flesh".

As for my Progress, I got some of the assembly done. It Looks better IMHO dann the previous one. Still room for improvement but still better. These modifications for the resin engine were not the easiest...

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated!

Thanks for looking,

Cheers

Alex

Thanks a lot everyone!

Indeed it is coming along well. I am on a roll with this one. The fear I had of working with Resin was a bit unsubstantiated. Of course it is hard, and requires a lot of practice, but for this being my first attempt on the matter I am happy.

This is the Progress. Now on to painting. I want to get this finished so that I can join CTA 3 - there I will be really going nuts with an Eduard FW-190 A-5 with all the resin and PE that you can get!

Cheers and happy Weekend everyone

Alex

Thanks Christian!

So, aiming not to bother you with too many Pictures, here are the finished IL-2 so far (two down, one to go).

This is the two-seater with straight wings using all that resin. Since this aircraft was put together with parts from two different aircraft, I decided to portray it very worn-out. The Crew will be fitted on a new base I built.

This is the first one. A single-Seater with straight wings in summer Camouflage. I think this one turned out better as the previous one, but I had never worked with Resin before...

And finally the base I am working on. Maybe in this Setting the first one does not look so horrible. Of course it is interchangeable, so I can get many russians into one base ;)

Cheers
