Wingnut Wings Moon Pup

Ok I'm really into the the black scene happening here - "black on black" as Bauhuas sang it. I had my semi tractor painted Pitchblack, everything including the grill, tanks, frame, drive fenders, EVERYTHING was black or blacked out (illegal window tint). It was well known in the area and it's nickname was The HOOD, hence my username.
This build caught my eye cause I love the Pup and when I saw the paint scheme....well.. it's a hit (y) The clear dope effect looks awesome too. Great work!

Btw I thought of building my favorite jet, the Phantom, in a "what if" black scheme. Mabey one day.

Tim

You don't have to do a WIF, don't you remember Vandy 1?

Build it in the Vandy 1 Scheme.

Hood,

The British also flew a black Spey-engined Phantom II.

Yet, I like the Vandy scheme due to the Playboy logo. Decals are available to from Hobby Decal.

Note the different bumps on the tail fin.

Pretty when flying...

Note this is a different aircraft, look at the serial.

Merry Xmas! Sorry for the hijack Moon Puppy.

Regards,

There's no better Sharkmouth out there than the F4E, Can't remember unit.

You know that Bunny was never authorized by Playboy and I think there was some threat to sue.

I don't know what sort of grove I got in tonight but, I started with three turnbuckles rigged. Got them all done on the main wings, just have to thread them through the tie downs. Attached the top wing and I took a step back... :blink I do this??? Lots of help for sure! :D

I may complain about the rigging..but this, is cool if I say so myself!

I'm still thinking there's some way to make these turnbuckles work to tighten up the line, sort of like how I did it on the Wildcat a couple of years ago.

Still up in the air about what prop to use, suggestions please?

Pup028.jpg
I do not know why the gun is not installed when the instructions clearly state it should be...I built up CA on the handle to simulate carved wooden grab handle.

So, how am I doing??

P.S. The padding around the cockpit is suppose to be leather...no, I haven't done it yet...not sure why just got working on the rigging and looked over it.

Well I'll be... actually I remember the bunny head I guess that distratcted me and I didn't notice what color they were :silly: After reading a bit on the Vandy 1's it seems the deal was Hugh was fine with it as long as the Navy changed it to the official Playboy bunny head logo. Eventually the bunny head was removed from all testing planes due to changing political tides

The pup's looking great!

Tim

Wow, that is looking GREAT! Good modeling karma always feels good, doesn't it?? (y)

Yeah there were good vibes working. not going to have much time tomorrow, should have stayed at it some tonight but it would have jinxed it...

This is the kind of build that could persuade me to build a WWI plane! MP as usual, you done good. I vote for the prop on the left......Harv:silly:

Harv you'd rock one of these Wingnuts, seriously. They have just released 5 brand new ones and word on the street is the Gotha is on the way.

that's stellar! ... STELLAR i say!

of course there's a pun intended!

but where's the moon and where are ursa minor and ursa major?

Looking good. I like the prop on the right. You can either go for what you like or looh for a ref and find out which one is on your plane. Either way their a winner.
James

Thanks James, the prop on the right. That's actually the first one I did, the test one. As a result, it's the one I have worked with more. OK, I"m going to gloss it over and see how it looks. This is getting so close I can smell it.

Get this complete then I have time to clear the work bench for THE Group Build!

Bob,
Try not to gloss up the prop. Give it a satin finish for scale effect.
The real thing would of lost its shine fairly quickly. The sandpaper effect caused by the elements and prop-wash.

Von Buckle ;)
