WIldcat vs Val in 1/72

Thank you so much.

This was just a side-project to see which one of the chipping techniques would work out better for me. I used this Jill as a experimentation board, and really banged it up!

I was not happy with the salt thing (the planes seemed to be infected with small pox   ), neither with the 11-Blade chipping (to me it looked unrealistic). This painting alone gave a better look. I will try a even smaller brush next time and see what the results will be. The Wildcat will not be chipped though.. they were brand new aboard the Enterprise!

Cheers

Alex

P.S. My dear Bob, where is my badge???? ;) ;)

The problem with the salt method is the you have to figure out what you want chip and arrange the salt accordingly.
Personally, I think it is more useful to make a patchy NAVY paint job of the modern era.

So what I'm gathering is you painted those chips using those super duper opti-visors ... that's in the tool box ... nice work Doc ... Happy Birthday Sunday ...

Now out of all the processes shown Here I liked MichealC's the best where He used the sponge dipped in a masking solution ... which turned out awesome ... so that would be what I thought you had done on this ... Me I absorbing everything you guys throw at me ... Now does anyone have any extra time ??

Where did you see that ? " super duper opti-visors ... that's in the tool box " :coolio

They are GOOD (25x)! Specially when I get to operate on those premature babies that weigh 500g.

Cheers

Alex

Yup ! I have talked to my Dentist about those but after she told me the price I realized I should have started payments when I was 20 ish... :facepalm

Oh well :idonno Cheers, Christian B)

It was not cheap, but at least I could deduce it from my taxes... Work instrument!

Hello all,

So it's time to get to work on the second badge. I had to concentrate on my grant proposal, which finally got ready. Now I can go back to the bench. Fingers crossed that I get the funding! :v

Here is the official entry for the Wildcat. This is an Airfix 1/72 new tooling edition, PE from Eduard and the base also made from PE from Eduard. I will be assembling the 6-F-1 from LT(jg) Francis F. Hebel during the evening strike escort on December 7th, 1941.

Here the photos:

Nice weekend everyone!

You go Dr. Alex. (y)

There's light at the end of the tunnel for me, I'll try to get these badges setup and awarded today.

Looks like a good place to start :good: All these new Airfix kits look good.

Waiting to see what shakes out :popcorn

Cheers, Christian B)

Hey Bob, hello everyone!

I hope that light at the end of the tunnel was not an incoming train.... :blink :blink :blink

Here is the progress so far. Very nice kit, I have seldom built american planes but I am enjoying this one. Let's hope it continues on this path.

Cheers

Alex

Looking very detailed Alex . Must be an Airfix kit ( ? )

Love the chain detail on the firewall even though you'll never see it again.

It would be good for a repair diorama .

Cheers, Christian B)

Hey Doc! You're doing far better than I would with this kit! I'm stunned it's in my favorite scale too! I can't do that kind of detail. Way to go!

Thanks a lot friends,

So a little more progress. This is the accident-site shot. All painted and pre-assembled, now on to the final assembly. So far so good IMHO.

Cheers

Alex
