USS TEXAS build.

So, I when I went to nip part D18 from the sprue it wasn't there. After examining the sprue it looks like the part was cut with nippers, but I didn't do it. It's a mystery. So, going by the instruction's drawing I scratchbuilt the part.

OK, I'm encountering some of Trumpeter's funny business now. The tubs for the 40mm quad gun mounts, for some reason, are all molded different on the kit, (the funny business). The aft tub has the button for the gun mount, which is right. The center tub has nothing at all? and the forward tub has a hole for one of the 3" guns (wrong). All six of these tubs take the quads. The instructions show this, as does photos of the real ship. So, chuckle, put 6 quads in, and move on, and wait for the joke...lol. View attachment 164402View attachment 164403

Tim you need to catch up with the restoration. They got the hull painted already. :popcorn
I saw that. Said it'll be out of drydock in February.
I noticed that the measure 21 5N paint looks quite different than swatches I've been looking at.

Lots of cannon!
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts and minds of Trumpeter model designers...............
Only Yingxiang knows!

I'm feeling the evilness. This thing is molded worse then the 50 year old Revell Constitution.

Now you know why I decided to do the 1/200 scale Arizona. It also has it's major faults, but the parts somewhat look like what they are supposed to be.

Overall you are doing a great job with this Tim!

Looking so cool. Still watching with interest even though I'll never in a million years attempt it.
