Trying to break out of the funk I am in (sad to say-- summer is my best time to model but I just feel blahhhhh)...so I decided to paint up some Lord of the Rings minis....

Greetings,Ron.

LOL...these aren't too bad Art-- kind of near 1/32 scale...maybe a bit smaller.

Thanks Bob and Ron ;) Going to watch the Two Towers with the kids tonight maybe....

Thanks James, Jeff, and Andy!

Next up are the other three hobbits and then some weathering-- Aragorn was a Ranger as most of you know and at this point was in the wilds so would look a bit more weather beaten...I have to work a bit more on Legolas' face as well...

Well...here is where we stand...I decided against too much weathering as we will be using them for gaming and no need to get the kids all dirty ;) I am not exactly thrilled about Legolas...but after three tries, I give up ;) Elves are just troublesome I guess ;)

Gimli came out pretty well...

And the men...Boromir and Aragorn...

I think the Mig pigments on his Ranger cloak and jerkin came out awesome...

And the hobbits...was hard to focus on them...first Pippin:

Merry:

Frodo:

And Sam-- front and back to show off the sausages ;)

Gandalf:

And to complete the set-- here is Sauron done in white metal....

Going to try my hand at a set of elf archers next...these were easily my favorites in the movie-- loved their intricate arms and armor....

Huh?

My daughter loves Legolas (I think maybe its Orlando Bloom she loves)- and is bothered he doesn't have a bowstring...but I imagine it wouldn't hold up to handling....

That's what I'm talking about, the bow string, gotta rig it dude! :geek

Could always get a pair of nylon stockings, and strip a sting out of those to use as a bow string. And it would hold up to a bit of abuse as long as you're careful. I've heard that's a common practice for ship builders, b/c it will stretch instead of immediately breaking loose if touched.
