Hi James,

Thanks for your nice message.

I live more than 200 miles away from the earthquake but I did felt it this morning, was scary..

Is 2 weeks now that that part of Italy is shaking from repeated hearthquakes and I really feel sorry for everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.

Grazie.

Giovanni

modena's not far away from where my family lives and where our appartment in italy is. my brother drove down there last friday and wanted to return home today - haven't heard anything from him yet!

and i have no idea if or how much our appartment is damaged!

earthquakes suck!

Yes please get us updated,Laura.
Hope your brother is fine.

Could our Italian members please check in to let us know if they are ok?[like Giovanni did]

Back in 1992 we had a earthquake here in the Netherlands,I was asleep when it happened, having a nightmare I woke up to a world that was shaking,a surreal feeling for sure.
It lasted no more then 10 seconds,5.8 on the Richter scale, hope I will NEVER experience something like that again.
My house still has small cracks in the facade.

Greetings,Ron.

he just popped by - everything ok, no damage to the appartment ... at least after the first strike, he was in a restaurant for lunch when a second quake hit ... relatives are all ok ...

seems like we've been lucky ...

I am also happy for Laura.

I live about 130 kilometers from the earthquake area, here was of medium intensity, but did no damage.
I know how it feels at times like these, I was in Friuli in 1976 when it was an earthquake that caused 1000 casualties ...
Unfortunately almost all the Italian territory is at risk earthquake

Speaking as one who lives in earthquake territory in Southern California, I know what you are going through. Glad to hear that you are safe and okay Giovanni. Laura, I'm relieved that so far your brother is okay and no damage to the apartment. I hope and pray it stays that way.
