I have seen this plane and I believe that reddish brown is a primer.

I remember seeing that particular P-38 and wanted to try that reddish brown look but was too late in my paint job.

I will have to try to on another P-38 project down the road.
 
Well i was just going to congratulate you on the finish, especially the clear canopy then realized its the real thing.....

Note to self: must try and keep up with the posts :)
 
This is a really impressive build! I know how tedious riveting is but they show up nicely and will always set your model apart. BTW someone had posted some pages back about “Japanese Sandman”. The Fundekals sheet includes these markings.

Calling this one done. I did not do too much more chipping, to me less is more. I took some liberties in certain areas of the build as well. Mostly this build was to try out riveting as I had never done it to this extent before. Enjoy
