Finally got the running gear done. Yuck. 22 or 23 pieces times 8 plus a pile more and I am glad its over. Got the sides taped on and gun press fit in. BIG tank. The gun has no keyed mounts so it is very hard to line up the barrel and mantle. Mantle has no solid mounting place so glued it in place. Over engineered in some places, while under engineered in others. Here are some pics.

PS did I mention BIG?

Looking good James (y) ..... but it don't look anything like the pic on the box it's sitting on :silly:

I give up :vmad . 50 teeth per track, 8 tracks. Too tiny and getting very frustrated. First the never ending running gear construction and now the tracks. This is going away or learning to fly. Havent decided yet. Hope someone comes out with easy to assemble tracks, then I might pick it back up. Sigh, what to do now.
James

Box it up and put it to the side James. Pick up the track one day when you're bored. That would be a megacool build to have completed! :zen

Looking good James, mine is still on backorder, this should be very helpful, good luck with the beast

What to do now? Build it without the tracks and then put it in a diorama where it's bogged down to the fenders in deep mud.

Cheers

Hey James! I agree with the others, set it aside for a bit and build tracks as the spirit moves you. I think I would leave off the upper runs that are covered by the fenders, cheating yes, but for sanity sakes. :woohoo:

Sorry to hear that,James.Maybe you could try one of the above mentioned suggestions.

Seems almost to be an untamable beast even in modelform.

Greetings,Ron.

Hey there James.

I just had another thought. Rather than think of it as one enormous job of 8 tracks why not break it down into sets of two tracks and think of each pair as tracks for one model? Work on one pair then work on another model for a bit and then work on a second pairand so on until you've finished the 4 pairs? It might take a bit longer but at least the task won't seem so gargantuan mentally?

Hey, do you have a family member or friend who'd like to sit at a table with you and assemble some of those tracks?

Good luck and I hope you are able to finish this?

Peter's right James, you don't even have to do the complete run of tracks. Looks like a great number of them are hidden under the skirts.

James you're talking about the guide horns for the track right. I just got the kit. Let me see if I can come up with a way to put those on so that you have more to hold on to.

Terry ;)

The big problem is the hand going numb holding the tweezers and the neck going hunched over. I'll give it another go in a while. Right now the tediousness has soured me to the kit. It goes together well and is a cool kit, but feeling as I do about it at this moment I'd just wreck it. So in a few weeks when I get enthused I'll start again and see what happens.
