Sherman in 1/16 scale.

I used frog tape coated in thin CA. My antenna is 9 scale ft. It only has 3 sections of 3' lengths? Would the green be at the tip?

A 3 section antenna should be the MP48 base, MS-52 blue and red, MS-51 red and yellow, MS-50 yellow and green. To my knowledge the illustration above is the start for the five section antenna which is made with the same set but starts with MS-53 and ends with MS-49.

Thanks! I'm so confused 😆

I figured as much. Was mostly just joking. :good: It is looking really good Tim! Making me ponder the new Gecko models 1/16th Chaffee that Andy now has in stock.
I used some sterling silver wire because it's what I had that was the right diameter, not springy.

Don't know who does a German 88 in 1/16, but I'm wanting to do one.

All stop on the build.
I'm dead set on displaying both machine guns loaded. I think I can deal with showing the printed 30 cal this way and I'm trying to "fix it up generally by adding details like the swivel lock to the pedestal. However the kit's 50 cal has problems. The gun itself is good enough for me, but the ammo box is not intended to be shown open. Plus the ammo box and it's cradle is molded as one piece. It just looks clunky. If Takom failed it was here. Now, I'm starting to look for solutions in the 3d print world.
Peddinghaus, through Dragon has the complete gun for 35 bucks shipped. Can't tell how good it is other than the photo of it and I'm getting tired of being burned by low quality offerings in this scale.
AVF club has the 50 cal 3d print that I know is top quality for around 30 usd. But, They're in Europe.

Thanks for those links Dave! The ones for the M3 will probably be used by me once I start up on my 1/16th M3. Also Andy has been adding more and more aftermarket 1/16th stuff as well as kits. Between Das Werk, Andy, Takom, and a couple of others that are offering 1/16th kits for reasonable prices (for the size and complexity) This scale has become much more interesting. Fun part is I also have several 1/16th scale VW kits. Might have to pull out the panel van next.

I suppose I could answer the Peddinghaus question too. I have one set of printed 1/35 heads and several sets of decals from their newer range of items. Super thick carrier film on the decals, the heads all have print lines and a lot of them. I don’t think there is any scenario that would make them useable. The old Peddinghaus stuff was good in that it covered some unobtainium but was not much different than other aftermarket product. I’m inclined to be very caution of any print product that only uses the elevation graphic to advertise. I want to see the actual printed item and I want it up close. I learned this, not too painfully, with MIG printed items, specifically the 1/35 M1919. Full of print lines and droops.

Gaspatch and Master-model both make my preferred MG's and they both have some things in 1/16th but nothing that would help this situation. too bad because if they did they would be perfect.

Thanks Klotzen. I suspected the Peddinghaus offerings might not be as advertised.
It looks like Sol or AVF will be the fix.
I keep thinking I can fix the 30 cal print I got, but nah. So, your right. Ordering two new guns.

Paul, checkout STEEL POT STUDIOS.
I did a test order of ammo box crates from him for the Sherman build. Excellent prints! So I've placed a larger order that's on it's way. He has many things for the 1/16 M3.

A while back I bought some RESKIT stuff for my helicopters that is super well done. I would say that probably all of their offerings are top notch. While I did see some stepping on very shallow angles (almost flat) parts, those should be easy to deal with, otherwise everything was super crisp and highly detailed.

I also bought some 1/16th figures to go with my armor. Most were injection molded, but these 3 were traditional resin and 3D print hybrid offerings. Not cheap but worth the $$. The only issue I had was with one of the gunners. They both had 3D printed MG42 guns that were quite crisp and detailed. The problem with one was the Ammo belt was broken into numerous parts. The prints didn't have any kind of protection around the ammo belt areas and one was done in.

Steel Pot Studios is Jef Verswyvel. We have been chatting a little on FB and he just finished up an awesome 1/16th M3 build. He used to work at Verlinden with Bob Letterman. Have been trying to get him to start posting on here a little. He is currently building a 1/16th Stug III and I am following that build for info to do mine when I am ready.

Yeah he is an awesome builder and posts his builds to show the steps on doing the detailing which is so helpful. Thus I am following the Stug III build fairly close as he has already showed me how to texture the armor plating for my 251.

Yep I found Jef awhile back. I think I've ordered enough stuff from him for the Sherman build to pay his utility bill for this month...haha.
