Schwimmwagen Floorboards

Hi Guys

Does anyone happen to know if the wooden floor boards in Schwimmwagens were painted
the base body color or some other color?

I've seen photos of restored vehicles where the boards look to be nicely stained
and varnished...not sure if this is correct though...

Thanks
Tom

I would say both could be possible, but I would go with stained wood.

It would be a nice contrast. think how long those things would last, I'm sure if they were painted the top layer would be scrubbed off pretty soon.

I've always painted mine interior colour. Either way would probably be okay. Found this pic

And this one, although its hard to tell.

And of course you've already seen the restored unpainted ones.

Thanks guys!

James & Ron, thanks for the pics, looks like it could be either way...hmmm, what to do...

Why not both Tom? Wood grain it, seal it, then do the hair spray technique on it with the base coat. Worn down painted wood. :popcorn

I'm thinking that...but simpler.

Paint it grey, then add some worn bare wood areas.

Hopefully I can get to painting soon...
