Sherman 18
Master at Arms
The Chilean Shermans have been on my list for a long time both the 60mm gunned M50 and the M51. I purchased the FC Model Trend conversion then picked up the Tamiya M51 for this M50/60 with a late cast hull. I am waiting for some 3D print parts, counter weight, loader hatch from Shapeways too.
The version I'm looking at
The basic kits with Arber PE for a M50. (and some On the Mark PE)
The parts I started doing the texture on. On the upper I filled some of the spots where the thick kit headlight guards go with strip styrene. I make the casting texture with 3M blue spot putty thinned with liquid cement. I'm also giving Tamiya putty thinned with liquid cement, looking for a possible thinner texture. I filled the cutouts n the back of the upper hull as those spots are for a M51 and not a M50. I had purchased a Asuka early Sherman turret from their parts sale for a conversion like this. The turret was not as early as I thought it was as it includes the right cheek armor. This works out since it matches the picture.
For the flat rolled armor look I coated the surface with liquid glue and then stippled the part with a paint brush. Then sand the parts with 600 grit sand paper once they have set over night
