Sherman Repotenciado

Sherman 18

Master at Arms
I went and purchased the FC Model Trend conversion to make a Sherman Repotenciado. The base it I'll be using is the Tamiya Firefly kit.

I started the kit by putting on more texture for the rolled armor plate and castings.

For the rolled armor look I use liquid cement by coating the surface with the glue and then dab the surface with a paint brush as it dries. Once that s done I let the parts sit over night and then sand them with 600 grit sand paper.

For the casting texture I usually use 3M blue spot putty thinned with liquid cement. I did that here on the upper hull parts. I tried something a little different by thinning Tamiya putty the same way and recoating the 3M putty with it. I really like using the putty as if I don't like the look I can always sand it off easily.

I started the process of changing the casting texture on the turret with the same putty mixtures. I glued on the lift rings as they are part of the castings on a Sherman. I also marked off where the add on armor will be on the turret. No sense in changing the texture under it.

Just to add to the fire...

Note the mixture of M4A4 (Sherman Vc) and M4 Composite base Fireflies:

Also, I have a nice walkaround set of one, for details...

Regards,

Hey guys by chance I got interested in this, as I was unfamiliar with this variant. I found this excellent reference:

In here they state that these were in frontline use until 1994 - 50 years! there are still 5 in use today, for Parades and they can be converted back into bulldozer tanks when needed.

The Sherman lives on!

Saul the M4 Composite was my first choice but the kit I have I messed with it to make a IDF M50 out of it. Since the M4A4 was in the stash why not.

I'll take you up on the walkaround as I have lost the one I had.

Another Awesome Project!! your definitely hitting the sweet spot with you Sherman build here. If you could post up some pics of the FC Model Trend items, I'd like to see how they are.

I take some pictures tonight and get them put up tomorrow.

I got this set and the Chilean M50 set from BNA Model World eBay store. Took just about a month to get to my door.

The photos of the 3D parts didn't really come out, the parts look good. The resin parts look good other than the engine deck having some warp. I plan on washing the parts then I will primer them. Hopefully I can remember to retake pictures of the 3D parts.

Parts not included will be the rear of the lower hull and grill. Some other parts may need some extra to get it all done. I will be sharing what I do as I go along.

I ordered some MJ Miniatures Sherman parts and Footman Loop (tiedown loops) for this build too

These MJ Miniatures parts look fantastic.

The parts look good and I surprised the baskets came out as well as they did. I also have some of them Footman Loops headed my way. Can't wait to see you put them parts to use.
