This goes back to 2003,when it first came out. Great kit from AFV Club. Only con is,the turret race needs to be carved so the turret will fit.
How it looked way back when.

I sprayed on the semi gloss earlier. I think I lightened up the Tamiya OD a bit much.

Hopefully,I can blend in that thick decal film on the blue serial number area.

I am thinking brown wash for this, with the OD filter set I have.

This old M3A3.

Looking good Chad! As for the decals, you may want to take a very sharp Exacto blade and pierce the decal a bit on the clear sections, then hit it with some Solvaset or some other decal solvent. That will help eliminate the silvering on it. Then maybe it will blend better when you give it a wash and filter.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks everyone. :)

Mark.

I don't think the decal silvered . It is just a very thick film. I have never had trouble blending in Tamiya decal film. And that stuff is thick. I will do what you suggested. :good:

Sounds good Chad. It appeared to be silvered from the angle of the pic so that's why I mistakenly thought it was silvered. You should be able to nail this easily. Looking forward to more.

Have yet to blend in that one decal. :bang head I used AK wash for the first time. Flows on great, but it seems heavy. Maybe a good dry brushing and filters will tone it down.

No luck with getting them decals on the front side of the hull blended in. :bang head Maybe some dirt will cover them up.

Think you already got some seal coats over it now right? Probably to late to get them. I didn't notice this earlier but that really doesn't look right, with the off set white, looks like the decals are out of register. Next time get a good gloss coat on the thing, decals, then flat coat. Dead flat surface generally doesn't take decals too well.

Thanks for the tip Bob. I usually brush on semi gloss on the cecal area.apply the decals, then spray semi gloss on. Usually, that does the trick. Maybe not for AFV Club decals. :idonno

Chad it looks good, but maybe you need to go to the Nuclear Option: Solvaset. Take a very fine , extremely sharp Exacto blade and pierce through all the clear layers, through the decal and then send in the Nukes. That usually works for me almost 100%. All you can do is try.

If not, drape a tarp over it that is coming loose or something...
