I don't know why I have such a problem with consistency painting faces. There's a couple in here that i have no problem with, couple just look weird. I hope my African sergeant major Tambul doesn't look too ...black face?

The civilian on the far left really is just sculpted funny. His hands are huge.

I think it comes down to the detail in the sculpting. I have found that with Tamiya v Dragon etc. Especially with faces and clothing detail - it needs to be 3D but not to much.

I get it, figures are a struggle.

The one on the left is what came with the figure. Details are light on this guy. struggling with his lips. Sorry about the focus...but the one in the middle has my vote in person but looking at this photo the guy on the right looks better in this photo.
 
I have found that pacing yourself may not always be one of your gifts. Slow Down on figures, my dear 'Pup! Thin your paint (oils)?
