Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

GUN TRUCKS!!!

Don't worry, I didn't get a complex. March on Augusta, why not, Sherman by passed it but we'll do a scorch earth on the HT!

Yeah, GUN TRUCKS!! :ro: I saw it the last time I visited the shop, but didn't pick it up. This time it followed me home! I guess I should have mentioned that this pile cost right at $33 including tax, coulda got out of there for less, but Adam kept me back by the paint rack a long time!! :D :rotf

:drinks

Road trip!!! haha

The LHS is definitely beginning to get bare, but still some deals. Unfortunately, I think this coming Thursday will probably be my last trip there to buy anything before its closed completely. I've spent way too much money there

Our local is an old family business that has been there for decades, I hope they never close- but in todays world you can never tell. This place is tiny- maybe 30x15 feet! And just filled with stock, more than half railroad but this is what we have. Anyone dropping through Columbia should check out New Brookland RR before it too goes away! Sad.

I kept you near the paint rack! Ha! Whatchu talkin bout Willis! hahahahaha :yipee

For a long time, I would have said our LHS was stable enough to not close, but unfortunately I think that the owners decision to move to the location he's at now, was the nail in the coffin, and it was just a slow progression over the last 3 years to where they are now. They were in a small shopping center right on the main road through town, but then it was sold to a new owner, and it was decided to tear it down and rebuild, so pretty much everyone had to get out. The owner of the hobby shop picked a larger location, but it was quite a way's south of his old location, well off the main road through town, and I think that was what did it. There were several locations near or on the main road, but the monthly rental was probably higher than he was paying.

New Brooklands advantage over that is they are in a stand alone building on their own lot- I'm not from Columbia, but a good friend told me the family that owns(or owned) the business also owns the lot! That can make a huge difference- they don't have a display case, there is just NO room, but the place is so cluttered its like a time machine. Sorry your guy lost his, Adam and mike.

You guys ever get to Cleveland we have 3 in the immediate area and 4 or 5 more 20+ out...

Sounds like here in Southern California. Only in my case, I have 5 within 20 minutes of my house, and another two that are about 40+ minutes out.

Looks like some good scores guys. There's nothing like going to a Hobby Shop with fellow modelers.

I got something yesterday that I'll be posting here soon.

4.5" of snow since yesterday... My street will not see a plow until spring!

Just remember the Heart of Rock 'n Roll is Cleveland!

Not mine, but my son's thanks to his Godfather (our Dewertus):

Too late for him to join the Battle of Britain Campaign. This was for his birthday (on the 21st of this month) but he already has started the Hurricane!

Regards,

Well, stepSander asked for feedback and I asked for a wider tool to handle ejection pin marks...
they delivered!

I will be testing these out tonight and show the results. By the way, forgive the beaten look of the other tools... I REALLY do use them!

Regards,

That's cool. I need to get some of these step sanders.

Meanwhile, I was at Hobby Day on Saturday and there was a raffle. Someone won the kit I wanted. When I mentioned I'd always wanted this kit as a kid and could never find it; he replied that he'd had the kit as a kid and he told me to take it. I wasn't sure he was serious, and offered him money, but he said to just take it and pay it forward.

Here is the kit he so generously gave me:

I still can't believe it. It is complete inside and the decals are still in there.

Awesome Mark!!

Got emails from both Great Models and Archer transfers saying my Valentines gift are inbound ;)

OMG! I built that kit!

and the show??? Loved it then and love it now. My oldest daughter has the whole series!

I hadn't bought any dirt crawlers for years before I started hanging out with you buncha bums! ;)

I snagged this from a forum listing- it's got a different shooty-thing from the one on the box cover, and a couple of sheets of generic treadplate PE as well. I'm thinking this might go nicely with my Monroe Perdu water wheel base. :soldier

CHUK:

:S

Come back from the dark side... all will be forgiven and we have better cookies than they do!

had to go to Hobby Town to get some paint, and like a fool ended up in the kit section as well.

You would think that enough, afterall they sell Alclad II for almost 9 bucks a bottle! But I did'nt want to mail order, so...

Four figures and a few weapons, only 2 berets, the other head gear are jungle hats. One figure seems to be ARVN holding a detonator. For some reason the kit offers an M-60 and a couple of belts though none is represented on the box. kinda flashy too, like some of the Tamiya figures.
